My only thinking is that the OL and WR also need improving. They aren’t winning a SB this year, so it you can significantly upgrade two spots with one pick, maybe go that route and look to find your QB later or elsewhere.
How often are the Patriots likely to be in a position to acquire a franchise QB, though?

Why does the QB have to wait? Why can't upgrading the OL and WR spots wait?

I think we keep him to compete with with JD or DM. The only other QB we have on the roster is Rourke, who I watched play in the CFL in 2022. He was great that year, until he got hurt.
What purpose does it serve to have him compete with Daniels or Maye? He has no chance of winning that job, and they aren't going into the season with 3OA QB and Zappe as the primary backup. They are signing a vet like Brissett or Flacco.

Zappe is the definition of a JAG and apparently a shitty teammate based on stories from the season and reactions to Jones being dealt

Get him the f*** out of here ASAP.

Believe nothing of what you hear and half of what you see.
Most teams go into camp with 3 QB's....so we have a UFA we are signing, draft a QB and who else?

I get it.

Just concerned that there seems to be a lot of chatter that Maye/Daniels aren’t necessarily sure things.

Of course there are people who think they are, just wish there was more consensus.

It's so stupid he's even hitting the market. Elite guard, very good tackle. Meanwhile they transition tagged a guy on a position that's filled with options in free agency and wasn't even the best safety on the roster last season
The Pats must be confident they can re sign Onwenu.
Placing the Franchise Tag on Duggar will potentially save the Pats 3.3 million / year vs the transistion tag.
If they franchise tagged MO, it would cost them 21 million vs hopefully re signing him for 17M.

Are they confident of re-signing him or does the idea of spending 20 million a year to keep him make them sick? We'll find out but they have more cap space than anyone, a great player at an important position and he's still hit the market.

Onwenu is one of the best right guards in the league and was still a stud when they shifted him to right tackle. That kind of versatility and being 26 means he is going to get paid on the open market. Landon Dickerson just got 21 million aav from the Eagles.

No one in any draft is a sure thing.

Of course not.

Just rather they were being talked about more like a Payton Manning than a Mac Jones.

Either way…it’s at least something interesting to follow.

Dickerson is a good comp to Onwenu.
