If the Avs don't win the Cup, it won't be because of wingers or lack of wingers. It will be because of headless defenders allowing three Red Wings in the front of the net unguarded or Georgiev letting in weird goals like in the Seattle series. We indeed won with Kuemper in the net, but even I don't recall him allowing some of those deflating momentum goals. Sure, he allowed weak goals more than 70% of the time, but they weren't momentum-breaking goals which is happening more wih Georgiev.

If you want to argue we need a bit extra depth, that's why you go for freakin' Alexander Dmitriyevich Barabanov or Nic Dowd. Remember Avs got Nuke coming back and potentially Kovalenko as well. Go get Guentzel, I am not saying no, all I am saying is that data isn't on our side if we do.

I agree, I like Barabanov but stop saying Dimitriyevich like he's a Soviet chairman.

I give this deadline already an A+, but I wouldn't complain about getting a legit 4C, insurance D to compete with JJ or backup goalie.

I really wish we got to see more spice with these types of interviews. Like I understand his response about Byram, the kid was drafted here and played a huge role in the cup winning team for us. I just wish MacK would have straight up added something like "RyJo's a great guy but he really sucks at hockey and I'm glad to see a move made" sort of thing.

If they're still trying to go for a big name rental, I'd personally pick Lindholm over Guentzel. Having Fatty and Lindholm as the middle six centers would be unreal center depth. They already have enough wingers, plus getting Lindholm pushes Colton to wing.

But in reality they're probably done outside of maybe a 2G.

It kinda sounds like other teams were offering peanuts for Guentzel. Then last night the Avs came in dropped the best offer and the other teams then started ponying up actual good assets. Then the Avs threw up their hands said "Too rich for my blood " and backed out.

Tatar was a bad fit here so CMac moved him out for a pick

SloJo was god awful, so he found someone willing to take his remaining contract on and got a #4 D-man for what will likely be a late 1st.

Then fixed the biggest glaring hole in the roster by trading from a position of strength to bring in a 2C

Very important character trait. Not everyone has it.
