We already have a weaker defense than a week ago, remove Girard (who isn't a playoff performer to begin with) and the picture isn't good.

The week started pretty well, but today was disappointing.

Swapping Byram and Walker does not make our dcore worse lol. Byram has a high ceiling but he’s been brutal all season, the blue line improves with Walker.

Maybe I’m crazy but I think we conserved the rest of our assets (at least in part) for a potential Crosby trade in the offseason. Still wish we used the full cap space though.

It's not even remotely comparable. Byram had been absolutely awful for us this year. Walker is a significant upgrade on his play.

Interesting that they kept both 1st they had last year to select Ritchie and Gulyayev, and seemingly are doing the same with the 2024 1st unless a draft day trade happens.

There’s probably some truth to whoever mentioned the organization wanting to replenish the farm system.

If I had to criticize one thing about this deadline(and last) is that they didn’t fully utilize their available cap space. All in all I can’t complain about the deadline this year.

It’s up to the players now, including goaltending, which is always how it should be.

Not to mention that Bo's playstyle never really fit the team, except when he was being a shutdown, puck-mover, while Walker's game is tailor made for this system. I keep saying it, but we very well could see a Toews-like rise from him here.

Hopefully we can lock him up long-term, like we did with Toews before he broke out. If Forsling got 5.75M, we could easily get Walker for 4-5M for 3-5 years

He was already showing signs of turning things around. But i like Walker, so let's admit we got a little better.

Yet, the lack of added depth there is disappointing.
