I agree that there is risk. Also agree that the more Russians we have in the system the less likely it is to become a problem with Russian players being comfortable here.

I sure wouldn't mind having our own "Russian Five" like the Red Wings did in the 90s. Still not sure I go for it though. If it does go wrong, it goes really wrong.

We can call the new arena “The Kremlin.”

They had a huge team of scouts in Russia during COVID/prior to Simashev/But's draft (might be misremember and it was just due to the ban on Russia/Belarus from the war). I think it was clear that not a lot of teams did due diligence on Russians, so the Coyotes may have had the inside edge on those two. I think teams wised up to this and will have shored up their scouting there from then on, so the rest of the league may go back to drafting Russians again and we may not have underrated guys drop in our lap again. It would be nice if we got an advantage in future prospects wanting to play for us due to establishing that pipeline though.

Good points.

And to think that prior to AM & BA we hardly even had a scouting staff. What very little we did have was bottom of the barrel too I'd imagine.

BA has had to build a franchise and work on the roster. He's had to do a lot more than any other GM I can think of outside of an expansion GM. I think we're in as good of hands as we possibly can be right now. Things can change, but right now, I like how things look.

I'd hope BA would be able to find out if they aren't interested in being a Coyote before committing. Looks like he did with Michkov and it didn't deter him from But and Sim.

1. Silayev
2. Levshunov
3. Yakemchuk
4. Parekh
5. Buium
6. Dickinson

^ that’s the order I have them in. But the margin between 1/6 is so slight. Between any two spots is basically nonexistent. They’re so tightly bunched for me. And the fun thing is that they’re all such different players. And they’re all individually having amazing seasons in their own ways.

I honestly really like all of them.

Saw BA in the parking lot today. Asked him Parekh or Yakemchuk. He laughed and said there were a lot of REALLY good defensemen this year. All I got out of him. Haha. :)

"hey, you're known as 'rt' right? How would you like to come in and sit in on a few meetings in the spring with my team? Maybe toss out a few your ideas?... i'll even throw in a bizarrely tailored suit jacket"

He should have said, "I'm focused on Celebrini at the moment!" instead.

Probably made his day! Some random guy comes up to him and mentions possible selections in the draft! But you didn't really think he would shoot the shit with you and give away another spectacular surprise @ the draft, did you?

I can expect with so many good RHDs at the top of the draft, that we'll win the lottery just to screw with us!

My goal was to get a chuckle. At most maybe a slight tip of the hand like “think bigger” or something.

Do you think there are any D can could make the jump to the NHL next year?

I wouldn’t do that to any of them, personally. But I think all six probably make the jump the season after next.

Which is when I think Simashev and Lamoureux will be ready, too. So that’s a little iffy. Haha.
Would you trade our first this year for either Johnson or Jiricek from Columbus?

I'd love to get Jiricek for our 6 OA.
I bet Bill REALLY likes Silayev's size. If he thinks he has a shot at Silayev then I think he keeps the pick.

CBJ doesn’t have any reason to move Jiricek. They fired the GM and the new GM will bring in a new coach. So Jiricek’s complaints will be nullified.

Uncle Gary is going to help us out this year after we win the land auction.
Yeah we should win both the auction and the lottery. This will be our summer.
