You been watching Guelph at all this year? I love that Jett Luchanko kid. Buzz saw. Just works so freaking hard. All out every shift.

@Mosby - you know this luchanko kid at all?

My list of favorite mighty mite pitbull little guys are Luchanko, Howe and Surin. Don’t think we usually draft those types. But if I was in charge I wouldn’t be able to help myself.
I keep watching whl over ohl. Most of my ohl viewings have been Dickenson, Parekh, or Greentree. I really just focus in on the names in the first round and watching our drafted huys. We have ignored ohl the last few years.

I never felt like But at 12 was a reach.
I continue to feel like Simashev at 6 was a reach, though I don't mind anymore.

I agree that getting them together is a risk mitigator and not a risk compounder.
All I can say was it was a massive show of confidence by the scouting team. The Russian factor still is a major worry for me.

Don’t blame you. WHL is way better. They neutered the OHL. Took the heart out of it. Canada is a nanny state and it’s really gross. Glad the west seems more reasonable.

But watch a Guelph game soon. I love this luchenko kid.

Your government's been pretty effective at censoring dissent too. I didn't follow the Twitter files too closely but I believe they shed more insight on the CIA than they did on CSIS. And if you're referring to governments protecting us from the flu rather than hate speech, well if only this paddle boarder was in Canada then he wouldn't have been charged.

Edit: Excited for the draft. Let's draft some hockey players!

A man in the UK was just sentenced to two years in prison for posting offensive stickers around town. Yes, you read that correctly. America is far from perfect when it comes to nanny state behavior but it’s still the only hope the world has my friend.

If we finish in the #4 - #7 range do you guys think the Yotes draft Anton Silayev?

His size alone prob has BA in love with this player.
The goal for the rest of this season is to tank and put us in the best possible position to draft one of Silayev or Levshunov.

Both are franchise changing defensemen.

Have nothing against Yakemchuk or Parekh (I'm fine with drafting one of them if we land between 6-8), but I want one of Sialyev/Levshunov ... badly.

You don't get too many chances to lock down your top 2 defensemen for the next 15 years very often. Ethier Sialyev or Levshunov (with Simashev) would make our defense improve from marginal to good.

Nanny state? That is putting it lightly.

And it's going to get much better in a few months.

I know our upcoming draft wealth is well known around here, but when I see it on my screen it brings a smile to my face. It's great that our scouting staff is fully stocked. We should be able to get a hit on some of those 2nd rounders and maybe a thrid rounder too. Or box some of them up in a trade deal works too.

Mig, I see 4 to 8 years of crappy hockey. Did you enjoy the game last night? Good news only 4 more years :)

You speak for Mig now? 8 years is laughable. Most children don't even have the capacity to exaggerate like that. 4 is too. How about you be realistic with this and say 2? Or will that not get the reaction you want because you are throwing a tantrum? Like a child.

It was an auto correct lol, I apologize to Mig. Fixed :) Tantrum not likely, more trying to be realistic. I agree it really depends on this draft. If we just draft more players I stand with my time line of 4 years at the earliest. It's math the average good player needs 3 years to develop. If we start to trade our 25, 26 picks for prospects from 20 or 21 or young studs from the NHL it can be 1 or 2 years away.

Yes these will be expensive but we have the picks currency. 2025 first and 2 seconds should be able to get us a star. Hayton, 25 1st and a 2nd.I would love for AM to give us an approximate timeline for this rebuild. I like how the Rangers rebuild.

I think now is the time for BA to start bringing in players worth a contract longer than 1 year.
If for nothing else than to establish some longevity to the blue line, one of the reasons the defense struggles so much is its different dudes every year. Need to find some mainstays, I’m tired of one year of dumba and dermott, nemeth, Dineen, Mackey. It’s time to start actually building the blueline.

One solid all around defensman can honestly make the difference. Just one guy like a Lindgren or a Skjej you can put on the top pairing to slot one of moser and durzi down would help a lot I think. That has to be priority 1 this offseason

I think he only does this with what could be considered a relatively sure thing. Like Bjugstad, for example - he was brought on as a sign-and-trade originally but he had such a good effect on the team that BA brought him back with a bit more term.

But then, of course, there's Zucker - another veteran gamble that most decidedly didn't pay off, but thankfully we're not locked in long term and he can be someone's rental.

I don't think BA wants to do contracts with term for non-homegrown players precisely because of the risk. Short-term contracts are good gambles because you either find someone you want to give more term to or you can flip the asset for more assets if they don't pan out.

That philosophy may change once we're in the "competitive" phase of the rebuild but we are quite obviously nowhere near that yet.

I do think we have 2 more years of being the 12th worst team or lower. I think we have a chance to make or just miss the playoffs in three years. And then I hope from then on we are a competitive team for a very long time.

I do agree that we need to start moving picks for pieces to help the team now. And making a big move could be interesting as long as it doesn't hurt the rebuild too much (aka don't move a 2025 1st).

Going to be an interesting offseason. And what we lack that the Rangers had in their rebuild was being an amazing org in an amazing city. We aren't going to just be able to sign the Panarins and Troubas of the league so we shouldn't compare our rebuilds.

Watching some YT and wondering if you guys have seen Yegor Surin from Loko in the MHL? Projected 2nd-3rd rounder. Highlights never tell the story, but a lot of physical play and impressive hands.

When did he play last? I haven't seen his name in the summaries for quite some time.
He’s been out since December and his timeline has continued to get rolled back. It’s a hand injury and I’m reminded of Hayton’s issue. Where there were complications from a routine procedure and he ended up missing way more time than expected with his thumb injury.

Anyone else really high on Lindstrom?
I’ve been a big fan since literally opening weekend this season. His early rivalry with Yakemchuk is what made me so fond of both players. I’ve had Lindstrom rated earlier than most lists all season. Now many lists have him rated earlier than me. He’s 7th on my list currently. But like all the kids I have 2-7, they’re ranked so tightly for me that I wouldn’t bat an eye if we took any one of them 2nd overall. Including Lindstrom.
