It'll be hard for Letourneau to rise into the top 10 while playing at a prep school.
He'll be a a case where stat watchers are useless and real scouts are worth their weight in gold. That's where the Coyotes can use their advantage.

Still stuck in Forum 40

Am I gonna have to buy Flo Hockey TV to see Boisvert, Hage, Connelly, and the NTDP kids?
Have to? You probably will anyways!

They picked his teammate Castagna with their first pick of the 3rd round. So they saw plenty of Letourneau last season. If they liked what they saw, they’re certain to continue seeing a lot of him this season. Costagna having a very good freshman season would be all the more reason to go back to the St Andrews well.

Something to keep an eye on anyway.

Getting my first look at Yakemchuk tonight. He looks legit. Off the board before we can draft him IMO.

He’s very old for this class and he’s got mechanical issues with his skating and he’s quite blunder prone. These things could drop him enough to give us a shot. But probably not. If we can’t have him I hope he ends up in the eastern conference. He’s a menace.

Watching more OHL to get a handle on these 1st round rated defensemen. Liking Parekh a lot more than Mews. In watching Parekh, I gotta say something obvious which is I really like the Misa brothers. I know Michael Misa is an exceptional status player and obviously there’s a lot to like. But he’s not really what I expected. He’s not big or fast. But he’s very quick and smart and skilled and he’s a tough kid. He’s strong for his size and he competes and goes to hard areas.

His older brother Luke Misa is eligible for this draft. He’s smaller than his younger brother and obviously not the same caliber of prospect. But I like him for a little guy. Really smart and slick. A little like Maccelli.

I definitely like Yakemchuk more than Parekh at this moment. I have Dickinson ahead of Parekh right now too. Dickinson and Yakemchuk are close for me. Mews and Elick are well below Parekh for me based on early season viewing.

Does this guy use some “model” or something to make these lists? There’s a zero percent chance anyone who’s ranking these players based on games they’ve actually watched could have a list anything like this.

I’d advise you to block this person. :)
I think you call it hipster scouting ;) did you see Wheeler’s list? Yakemchuk at 10.

We really do have an abundance of riches over the next 3 seasons. I'm torn between using a bunch of it to move to the 1st overall pick, or building a comically enormous amount of prospects. We get Celebrini, we no longer need to worry about quality center depth. At that point we can overpay a top defenseman in UFA to finish this rebuild off.

There’s no moving up to 1st overall. Haha. Not when there’s a clear favorite at the top. Just doesn’t happen. 20 years ago something kinda sorta happened like it but it was a toss up draft and team needs played a role and it was a top three shuffle.

Absolutely, but I'm trying to dream out loud, let me live a little.:nod:

NHL CSS gave 28 prospects an A rating.
6 of those 28 are D that are at least 6'2.
4 of those 6 big D play the right side.

I really want one of those 4 guys. Levshunov, Silayev, Jiricek, Yakemchuk. There's lots of variables at this early stage, but I think we'd have to trade up to get one of those guys.

I'll take either of those guys...good call.

Got to see an off night for Cayden Lindstrom. When he doesn’t move his feet or drive the net he’s not every useful. He looked a bit like Geekie when Geekie floats. He came alive in the 3rd, OT, and shootout. His linemate Andrew Basha looks legit, though. I think he could be a 1st rounder also. Very good skating, very good motor, very good shot, and very good passing. Always putting the puck into scoring areas. Very impressive player.

Once media scouts learn that Kiviharju’s Dad works for us they’ll all mock him to us in all the mocks. It’s because nobody wants their own team to have the subsix foot blueliner without elite speed. And nobody wants to mock him to loud fanbases with lots of angry fans. Arizona is the perfect spot to hide him so you can get him off your board and just say “AZ needs defense and his dad is a scout for them” and move on.

So get ready to see his name at our pick pretty much every time. Personally, I’m not interested in him and I don’t think the Coyotes would be either. Find me one undersized player with average skating that BA has ever picked.
