After the first round in June, we'll have eight first round picks from the 4 most recent drafts in our system. With another two firsts coming in 2025. Not all of them will hit, obviously, but if even 50% become top half of the lineup players we'll have an excellent foundation to build upon.

I feel like that’s Old Sharks drafting. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with Grier’s team’s drafting so far.

Also, we’re f***ing getting Celebrini, dammit. WE DESERVE SOME HAPPINESS

The new drafting was simply meant to lull you into a false sense of security before they twist the knife and Burke makes all the picks himself. Get ready for more Gage Ausmus picks!

Pittsburgh looked absolutely terrible today, so I don't think we're going to get that pick this year.

Dubas was interviewed during the game and talked about using their assets over the summer to attempt a singular season reload. I hope he leans on Doug Wilson's experience heavily.
Honestly if it's number 9 or something, you have to think they just give it to us, no? They're in some serious trouble and it might be safest for them to cut their losses. I hope they don't.

I think trading their 1st for a veteran will be one of the moves the will be making in the offseason to try to improve. Doesn't make much sense to me, but oh well.

2025 is going to be an epic draft with 3 1st rounders: ours, Pittsburg's and Vegas. Hoping it's a Top 3, 7-15 for Pittsburg and 18-22 for Vegas. A better draft class by the looks of it too
Alternatively, Pens continue to fall apart and Vegas craters after winning the cup this year (good for Hertl), so the Sharks end up with 3 top-10 picks...I wish lol

Worst case is that Vegas and Pittsburgh both find a way to retool next year with PIT winning the Celebrini lottery this year with a top 10 pick they keep. We take Grier's "step forward" and draft 4-6. It's still 3 picks in the top 32 and one pretty much top 5, so it's still a great draft year for us.

More than likely is that one of the two others will figure out how to be good, the other will be mediocre but not horrible, and we will finish bottom 2 again, but less embarrassing this time. In that case we still have a great first round.

I can't allow myself to dream about 3 top 10 picks. It's just not a Sharks fan thing I can do.

Question for the masses that involves a lot of hypothetical:

If we get number 2 overall and PIT’s pick is 11, would you trade those 2 for number 1? Value is a bit skewed against us but I think I’d at least consider it.

Yes. I think Celebrini is good enough to be worth it over Lindstrom or one of the topD, plus Iginla or whichever of the other D falls. The only maybe question is whether we could guarantee that the guy that falls to 11 is like, Yakemchuk who I think is really exciting.

We don’t need a Bedard or Mcdavid…Celebrini can be Stamkos or McKinnon and I’m just as excited. I’m taking 1st OA however I can get it.

Chicago is a joke; if they weren't given the original 6 treatment they'd be the coyotes
We have a -111 goal differential and they are still beating us in the spiral down the drain. 😲

Also, they have Bedard—who is a generational talent, which isn't available this draft—along with a flock of veteran free agents and the instant turnaround is obviously not happening. Might be a cautionary tale for us as far as expecting a quick turnaround from going scorched earth.

I hope we figure out a way to get Eiserman, along with Celebrini or Demidov, and one of the top D men.

Smith feeding Eiserman with his shot would be ridiculous.

VGK first + our second this year would be around enough to move up to 15 according to pick value charts.

1 or 2:Celebrini/Demidov
10-12 Pit:Eiserman
15(2nd + VGK first): Jiricek

That would be an insane draft.

Wrong draft for the Vegas pick, it is 2025, not 2024.

What's impressive for Chicago is they're only retaining on one player, Jake McCabe for this year and next. That's it. They can go all sorts of directions in the draft. More than we can anyways.

I agree. We seem to have loaded up on 200 foot centers and playmakers for the most part. It would be nice to have pure snipers like Eiserman. He and Musty on the first PP unit along with Will or Eklund would be very Edmonton-esque.
