From looking at points %, they are closer to Montreal at #8 than they are to last playoff spot in East. Definitely high possibility they end up with a top 10 pick and push Sharks pick into '25.Guentzel is out for a month too
Do you think if the pick is #9 the pens just give it to us on the off chance they have a top-5 pick next year? I really don't know which one I'd prefer. I guess a bird in the hand, but...
If they can't afford to bring Guentzel back that's definitely a bad sign for retooling for another year or two!I would highly doubt it since you don't know what next year would bring. And with Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and Karlsson on their last legs I would guess they would do whatever they can to retool for a 1-2 year run.
Him and Celebrini are going to bring them to another 3 CupsScary to think, 14 less games and Bedard still has not been passed as the leading scorer for rookies.
Don't worry, Levshunov and Iginla are going to insure we make the Stanley Cup playoffs by 2035!Him and Celebrini are going to bring them to another 3 Cups
Whew. Only a decade-ish to go at latest.Don't worry, Levshunov and Iginla are going to insure we make the Stanley Cup playoffs by 2035!
While I also like Iginla, this sentence right here is why I don't want to draft Demidov with our own 1st. The prospect pool needs to be diversified. Our prospect pool is definitely missing a high-end goal-scorer, since our best three forward prospects are playmakers first.
Sigh… I’m coming around to Demidov at 3rd. He’s undeniably skilled, maybe even more than Celebrini. If he’s the pick, I wouldn’t be mad. You can’t assume that everyone works out as projected. If Eklund is “merely” a second liner, Musty busts, and Smith isn’t a real #1C, you’d be happy to have Demidov. While I also like Iginla, this sentence right here is why I don't want to draft Demidov with our own 1st. Eiserman at 16 is a dream. I’d go Levshunov at 3, unless we get warm and fuzzy feelings after meeting with DemidovAnother mid season list. I always like Dobber because their write ups are thorough and avoid too many platitudes. Reflects a serious process of debate which I like.
The surprises here to me are no D in the top 4, Buium as first D off the board, and Yakemchuk as low as he is. Catton is not a surprise at 3 because people love him and are only worried about the size, which sometimes takes him into 7-12. Things will keep moving through June of course.

I'm not going to have super strong opinions until June (and even then I'm no pro) but at 16 I'd rather a number of other people right now. Eiserman not growing or changing gives me bad vibes. Iggy, Greentree, Yakemchuk, MBN, even Jiricek give me better vibes.Eiserman at 16 is a dream. I’d go Levshunov at 3, unless we get warm and fuzzy feelings after meeting with Demidov
I know it's pretty well-established that the draft board is all over the place, but this list is batshit lol...could come away with Macklin at 1, Silayev at 12 with the Pens pick, and trade back up into the 1st round to nab Jiricek at 22. That would be an insane haul...Another mid season list. I always like Dobber because their write ups are thorough and avoid too many platitudes. Reflects a serious process of debate which I like.

Yes, you absolutely should plan for success instead of failure, because the latter only ensures failure. That doesn't mean passing on a gamebreaking winger or overcommitting to current prospects, but you only have so many resources to build a team.Sigh… I’m coming around to Demidov at 3rd. I am still undecided what to hope for when it comes to the Pens pick. Just outside the top 10 this year or sliding to next year, cause they could really crash hard next year.
Guentzel is likely gone, the core will be even older than they are already. I smell top 5 pick.
Guess I have to look into 2024 vs 2025 draft.
That would be like telling their fan base the team mgmt thinks the team will be worse next year tho? DW is Senior Hockey Advisor over there...In my mind, Pens should just give up this year's pick even if it falls into 9 or 10. It's a relatively weak draft and they look like they're on the verge of falling off a cliff. If they are in rebuild mode last year, they shouldn't risk losing a higher pick in a deeper draft
