I think this is prescient. In his draft thread people are speculating that he (Beckett Sennecke) may be a late riser and picked as high as 10-15. With Iggy likely going very high, and the Pens currently projecting to finish 15th worst if they don't sneak into the playoffs, we will not likely be able to snag the fallers of Catton/MBN/Buium/Parekh/Helenius and more likely will be looking at Greentree / Sennecke /possibly reaching for Jiricek. I'm not sure the other players in the 13-20 range (Hage, Connolly, Chernyshov, Surin) scream Grier's Sharks, and I'd be surprised if we reach for Elick that early. If the Pens keep on winning, then it's time I revisit digging deeper into Brett Senneke as the pick
Hawks have a much tougher looking schedule ahead of them than the Sharks do. There may not be another win in there. Think we need to take matters into our own hands and lose out.Almost there boys. Lose one more + a Hawks win and we’ll clinch last.
All we need thankfully, is one loss and one OTL. If the Hawks have any wins or OTL's it makes it easier on us again.Hawks have a much tougher looking schedule ahead of them than the Sharks do. There may not be another win in there. Think we need to take matters into our own hands and lose out.
But that would only be 1st round. Later rounds would be placing without lottery impact.Just say it out loud.. The Sharks are picking 4th.

That… doesn’t seem like a good idea. Levshunov definitely seems like the kind of guy who always wants to push himself for a new challenge, but why not master the level you’re at before trying something new?Speaking of Levshunov, the guys on the Athletic prospect podcast don't think he's going back to Michigan State next year. While they also don't think he's a full-time NHLer, he could be someone an NHL team wants immediately in the organization (AHL or NHL).
I'm really curious who the Sharks FO has ranked 2-5.
Then have him learn in the AHL. I think that would be best for him. He has the size to not get pushed around. That… doesn’t seem like a good idea. Funny enough, Corey Pronman ends that segment with that exact statement.I'm with Jux (I think) that Lev should spend another year in the NCAA. He had a very promising year, if raw and a bit inconsistent. Why not dominate (if he keeps his trajectory) and possibly even compete for e.g. a Hobey?
Musty was ranked around 15 so yeah he slid a little.Last year, was Musty an obviously talented prospect that everyone was surprised to see falling that far down? I remember fans were clamoring to pick some other guys instead. Can't really remember, but I believe HFboard folks thought the Sharks got a steal with Musty and were puzzled why NHL FO's didn't rank him higher.
This lead me to this year and the PIT's pick. I wonder if there's a talent that might fall that far down and we get a steal again.
I'm favorable to players getting to the AHL as soon as possible over staying in NCAA for the most part. The team needs talent and the players need to get used to the scheduling. Yeah, they can dominate at college but it ultimately doesn't matter to whether their skills translate to the pro game or not and it delays the reality that they need to get used to the grind of a season and the earlier the better for long term development, imo.Funny enough, Corey Pronman ends that segment with that exact statement.
I can see arguments for both sides for a guy like Levshunov. He's shown tremendous progression in every level/league he's stepped into. He could stay at MSU and be a candidate for the Hobey Baker or join an AHL team (and in the Barracuda place) play a huge role there.I'm favorable to players getting to the AHL as soon as possible over staying in NCAA for the most part. Graf is countering that point fairly immediately -- NCAA seems to be structured and high-effort, high-pace enough to be a solid development league. Didn't Makar also stay an extra year? Only one example but I know there are many others.I'm favorable to players getting to the AHL as soon as possible over staying in NCAA for the most part. That doesn't really make it any better if they fall from #1 to #3.But that would only be 1st round. Later rounds would be placing without lottery impact.
Strongly disagree. He gets pushed around to some degree even in the NCAA. He may be big and strong, but he’s still young. Then have him learn in the AHL. I think that would be best for him. He has the size to not get pushed around.
