Why in the hell we picked Reinbacher when there’s a top 10 full of big Dman like that? Jesus.
RB is as good or better than pretty much any Dmen available early in 2024, the Habs might have the luxury of more choices at fwds for the next draft due to dmen going early.

Because you could pick 5th overall again, he would be gone, you missed on Reinbacher and suddenly you've only got Leonard and Catton, but no studs on the right side of the defense.
Yeah exactly, you shouldn't ever make a pick based on a draft a year away, too many variables and things can change. Plus I've always been a believer in getting your D prospects earlier in a rebuild as opposed to later since they usually take some more time to develop. So I'm pretty happy where we are in that regard.

I for one wouldn't be angry if we leave this draft with Levshunov or Dickinson, even if we did draft Reinbacher. I feel like they're building an elite defensive core, and I can't imagine how better it would be with one of the studs in this draft.

Later round target, LD Noel Fransén. Late 2005, below average sized defender at 6'0 180, but has really good offensive tools and instincts, leads Färjestad in scoring currently. Wears number 65, gives you an idea of who he's trying to be.

injury - 1:53 he stayed in the game and played about 17 mins more after that. Showed lots of skill and flat out terrible defense.

Tij Iginla is off to a real nice start in Kelowna this year. He could work his way up into the 1st round.

Been watching Kelowna vs Victoria. Cristall having himself a game..5 point night. Still surprised he lasted into the 2nd round. Iginla very noticeable in a positive way. 9-6 with 3 minutes left. Goaltending is atrocious.

Calgary pick ends up 20th this year. We surprisingly decide to take the pick and select Tig Iginla in their faces and he somehow ends up better than his dad. Sound good?

Back to reality, will be interesting to see how his year progresses and where Tij ends up. He's probably the type to go 10 spots higher than expected because of who his dad is, NHL scouts love that stuff.

I would expect the Habs to draft a lot of high upside offensive forwards in this class. Don't think they'll bother with Kiviharju at all.

Nor do I think they should, he has the profile of someone he plateaued early and there's no physical gifts coming to help him out.
Agreed

Another big boy, too.

Hopefully the Habs draft more than 1 forward over 6'0 at this draft. Assuming they have skill, too.
Yup Habs need Elite Talent and Big boys

I hope we find a way to get a 20s area 1st from whoever we sell this year because Sacha Boisvert is off to an interesting start. Feet aren't the greatest but he's got so much skill for a big guy and has already made some insane goals this season.

USHL is a good league this year prospect wise.. I like Hagen there as a first round candidate too.
What do You think of Matvei Gridin?

Has anyone heard of Nikita Artamonov, a young Russian prospect eligible for the 2025 draft (I believe - TSLH places him for the 2024 draft). His stats are quite impressive.

I've been watching most of his games lately, he's impressive for sure, high end speed/skating with a good motor as he keeps his feet moving unlike say Demidov who I have just watched all 3 of his VHL/MHL games and while he was injured twice from the sounds of it, he is the opposite as he loves to coast (though I don't know if it was due to the injuries)

I like Artamonov more then Silayev though we'll see as each looked better in the 4 games, so 2 for each. I plan on seeing a lot of them though.

I don't want Demidov anymore. Morgan Rielly is pretty much the only guy who has had a knee injury and recovered completely without hiccups for the rest of his career. Unless of course we're picking 9th and he drops.
