So where does Trevor Connelly go? Predictions?
I wouldn't draft him. Maybe past the fifth and have him on a very tight leash.

I don't care for him, Im not even gonna scout him. From the shit I heard he's an actual sociopath. Its not just one instance, it's not even a couple, it's several. He does not learn.
1) Hello, Michkov is a year older. The level of expectations is higher.

2) Demidov has a grinding game and puck retrieval skills that Michkov doesn't have. In general, Michkov is a much better finisher; we'll see if he can do that at the higher levels.

Smear campaign? You are talking to me, bud. I had Michkov ranked high. I love Matvei, but you have to recognize a one-way player when you see one. Bedard has the same flaws, and Celebrini is the other kind of player in that situation.

Toronto isn't winning in the playoffs because Matthews, like Ovechkin before him, has to recognize his defensive responsibilities before they can win. I prefer the Habs to stay away from these kinds of players because winning with them is much harder. When you get a young Toews, you win much faster than when you get the one-way player.
It doesn't matter that Michkov is older. Both don't have a two-way element to their game, and both are not gonna be "liabilities". They'd both fall comfortably ahead of a guy like Caufield. Michkov is much stronger than Demidov, even at the same age and his puck retrievals are better for it. I've also seen less whimsical hockey play from Michkov than Ive seen from Demidov. I like both players, but this is ridiculous, trying to paint Demidov as some kind of "two-way" player is just plain stupid, please just stop.

Kane was literally the best player on the BH teams ?? Buddy take a coffee.

I respect your opinions but thats a lot of bad takes in a can, man.
One of Catton, Demidov or Lindstrom would be amazing. Lindstrom would be my pick.
Add Iginla to the forward group and yep, it's gonna be amazing. Then there's the option of high-octane offensive blue-liners like Buium, Levshunov, Parekh and Yakemchuk... I wish we had more than one pick.
And MB made the right call in that instance.
Did he really ? Mailloux is looking good, but I'd much rather have Stankoven, Moser or Knies and guys like Evans, Zellwegger, Morrow, Koivunen and a few others are doing better or equal to Mailloux. Was it all worth the media circus ? Ill go out and say no.

They won't but his mock draft and Bob's list are as close as you'll find to the draft, especially at the beginning.

He certainly is hearing how high teams are on the defenseman.
Bob’s late January list has Eiserman as his second highest forward and 4th overall.

Wasn’t Stankhoven drafted at 47 or around there? So he’s not really a good or fair comparable, and I’d rather have LM than Knies, who looks he’ll be a middle six wing.

Yeah, that will change in a massive way in his final list - I would expect.

Bob's mid year to final list has the most variance.
It’s interesting because Eiserman had already fallen on a lot of lists by the time this one came out. It’s not like Bob didn’t discuss it on his program when he went over it. So I guess we’ll see at the end.

If Eiserman really does fall out of the top ten, I’d try as hard as possible to trade for that pick and try to take him plus someone else. If there’s any chance of getting two guys out of this draft including Eiserman I’d be truly ecstatic.

Pronman latest rankings are out.

Tier 1
Celebrini

Tier 2
Silayev
Dickinson
Yakemchuk
Levshunov

Tier 3
Catton
Demidov
Lindstrom

Count that as 8 players, good chance
Interestingly, he rates Catton’s skating as high end but Demidov’s as below average. Is their skating ability really that different?

Lindstrom was rated as above average there

I'm more than satisfied with NHL teams pouncing on the defenders ahead of the Habs; while they are all great prospects in their own rights, they aren't foolproof future No. 1 defenders either (and I prefer Buium to at least three of them anyway).

As for Pronman's scoring system, I would just ignore it. I find he even contradicts himself at times, where he'll say someone has good puck skills in the write up, but then rate them at below average.

Catton's skating is better.. I think Demidov's skating should be listed as average, he has high end agility and edges, but he has low end acceleration and speed, so it should balance out as average.

Iginla is putting up those numbers playing on the second line and second PP wave. He’s very good at center too.

Phenomenal developement curve for the youngest player in this draft.
This dude could very well end up being the player teams will rue not picking when they had the chance.
If he's got 100% of his Dad in him look the frig out.

Man I wish we could see the NCAA players perform in a normal playoff format. The one offs don't necessarily tell the tale.

- "It doesn't matter that Michkov is older" ??

- We are all interpreting or painting players how we see them. I said Demidov is more 2-way than Michkov. "More" doesn't mean he is Celebrini. But Demidov has the skating element to scale those skills and have a 2-way dimension (more than Michkov, in 5 years by a significant margin).

- I didn't talk about Kane. I said having Toews makes you win faster. Having Suzuki makes you win faster etc. Obviously, acquiring Hossa made them win faster. My point was: having a 2-way forward you can rely on to play against the best and produce changes your W/L often faster than a pure breed scorer would.

The issue is that you read the take you want to debate, and then you throw insults on top. Go have an oat milk with camomilla; thanks for the coffee.

Bob's midseason list, for better or worse, strays little from his initial list and doesn't really pick up on much of the early season hype/disappointments as others seem to.

I remember arguing with a poster on here about Nemec being a top 3 pick, and they were adamant that because Bob had him at 10-11 on his midseason rankings that it was never going to happen.

He was ranked 27th by Bob, ahead of Mailloux. He is a fair and good comparable.

Preferring Mailloux to Knies is completely insane, Im sorry. Even if we assume Knies is "only" a middle six winger, which he clearly isn't, Mailloux isn't even guaranteed to be a NHL player.

Catton is a better skater, as in faster but his edges aren't as good as Demidov. It's insane that someone would rank Demidovs skating as below average.

Completely f***ing crazy that this guy is paid for this and you guys still click on his articles. Boycott the hacks, please.

The things you read on this board.

If Toews made them win faster and we already have Suzuki, then shouldn't a Kane like player be the winning recipe ? Regardless, its just a flaw in your logic.

My issue is that you, and some others, are trying to paint Michkov as a negative defensively and Demidov as a positive. At best, theyre both neutral, at worse theyre negative. They're not good defensively, both of them, they're slanted towards offense, they're like Caufield, they're like Bedard. Trying to nitpick between the two isn't right and stems from the smear campaign that has been going on since 2022, and especially since the Habs made the pick. It doesn't mean you didn't like Michkov, it means perception is altered by this. Michkov is better at battling it out, Michkov probably has better vision and knows where to go. Demidov has the skating (Apparently average now) but hasn't displayed anything defensively, he doesn't have to. In his small stint in the K, he was adequate but no more. Michkov was better, even last year.

Pronman's list is very interesting.

If we pick somewhere from 5th to 10th, these are the guys he has listed in those spots;

5. Artyom Levshunov, D
6. Berkly Catton, C
7. Ivan Demidov, RW
8. Cayden Lindstrom, C
9. Zayne Parekh, D
10. Zeev Buium, D

That's very interesting! We need to trade for another pick or two, because;

13. Cole Eiserman, LW
16. Tij Iginla, C

And please, please lets draft Aato Koivu!

Edit: Just IMAGINE Dach between Demidov and Eiserman!

No sense debating media guys rankings until BOB the GOD drops his gospel

Nothing would make me happier than for us to take a Catton or Lidstrom or whatever and then trade for the 11th and scoop Eiserman too. I really hope they’re looking at something like that because we’ve got so many assets to trade with.
