Catton is a better skater, as in faster but his edges aren't as good as Demidov. It's insane that someone would rank Demidovs skating as below average.

Demidov's puck skills being only high end makes me wonder if he's "watching" the same player.

I've defended Pronman somewhat in the past, but I can't deny his rankings, while interesting because of the connections context, are underminded by his subpar write-ups that make me question how much he's actually studied the players. He also still suffers from Drouin PTSD, he's gotta get therapy and work on that shit.

Give me Scouching types any day over these Athletic guys.

I would love for the Habs to select Carson Wetsch with their third round pick.

C Carson Wetsch - Calgary Hitmen, WHL (2024 Draft)
That's a new name for me. I will bookmark his db page so I can follow.

Why you like him? His stats not overwhelming. Physical? 85 PIM

Yeah, Bergevin would be the guy to draft him. He took Mailloux even over Mailloux’s own wishes. If he has a say then I could see that happening
Bergs had a lot of backbone to chose Mailloux

I mean he also traded Subban. Dude had balls of steel

You're not wrong, but Berg knew he'd have the backing of most of the franco media on that decision at least. Pretty much everybody up down to and including people who make rotisserie chicken came for him after drafting Logan.

If we pick 7/8th i think Iginla would be a great fit.
Still will need a top 6 forward through trade/FA.

Slaf-Suzuki-Caufield
Iginla-Dach
Newhook-Beck-Roy

Really like the 3rd line. Newhook or Roy can jump up into the top lines if we have injuries.

I like Iginla but if Demidov, Eiserman, Lindstrom are still available - I pick one of those three over Iginla.

1. Macklin Celebrini (52 points in 34 games in the NCAA - Center)
2. Anton Silayev (11 points in 63 games in the KHL - Left-handed defenseman)
3. Sam Dickinson (66 points in 63 games in the OHL - Left-handed defenseman)
4. Carter Yakemchuk (63 points in 61 games in the WHL - Right-handed defenseman)
5. Artyom Levshunov (32 points in 34 games in the NCAA - Right-handed defenseman)
6. Berkly Catton (105 points in 62 games in the WHL - Center)
7. Ivan Demidov (60 points in 30 games in the MHL - Right winger)
8. Cayden Lindstrom (46 points in 32 games in the WHL - Center)
9. Zayne Parekh (87 points in 61 games in the OHL - Right-handed defenseman)

This dude could very well end up being the player teams will rue not picking when they had the chance.
If he's got 100% of his Dad in him look the frig out.

He is such an obvious, high upside and with intantibles and also an easy pick that i believe its gonna be the opposite. We will all be confused when he is picked top 5.

If Demidov is not available, i'm quite sold on Catton.

Feels like the right time to trade up at this draft if we can find a dance partner in the mid-late teens. The depth falls off a bit late 1st round this year, I'd try to package the WPG 1st with some other picks to move up. If we could come away with a forward from our top pick and then add a player like MBS/Greentree/Boisvert I'd be pretty stoked. MBS especially as I've liked him quite a bit through this year despite his ranking steadily dropping through the season.

If not I'd be looking at Hage, Beaudoin, Basha, Sennecke, Hemming with the WPG pick. Maybe even Vanacker.

Habs will end with Silayev because he has the worst stats. Just watch.

Here's the difference defensively between Demidov and Michkov.

Demidov isn't good defensively but he's on your screen. Michkov isn't good defensively and he isn't in your screen because he's in the neutral zone cherry picking.

they both do the Caufield where they could be standing right next to a forward who has the puck in the offensive zone and they don't even flinch, just stare at them. But why I like Demidov so much more then Michkov is the hope that in 5 years he physically matures and gains a lot of lower body strength and they work on his skating stride. With more power this kid will be unstoppable and on par with Celebrini as imo they are twins as they play so much alike and their frames and skill levels.

I really hope we end up with one of them, of course winning the lottery is dream but if not we got to end up with Demidov as they must get a high end offensive forward that while he may not put up 100 points, he has the ability to but will need a good bit of work still. I fear the Yotes will get Demidov.

Also I saw that Artamonov played in today's game, so guess the hit from yesterday wasn't bad they just kept him out to be safe I guess. I'm getting far behind on vids as my other job is getting very busy but I think this kid is so underrated and Silayev almost every time i've seen him i've just not been impressed but of course he's really tall and moves like Tyler Myers with some offense to his game.

Until they trade him for pennies.

Yeah, i like Silayev but for now other than the size and maybe skating for a bigger kid, nothing is elite. He’s not especially good offensively and not elite defensively and isn’t smarter than most. But i guess it’s the impression we get because he’s 17 and is playing in the KHL.

anyone that watches the MHL, have you seen Alexander Siryatsky?

here's an interview he did on his call up to the KHL,

Not someone I have seen but I saw that he played his first KHL game a few days ago. Wonder how that went, he's super young.

Nothing would make me happier than for us to take a Catton or Lidstrom or whatever and then trade for the 11th and scoop Eiserman too. I really hope they’re looking at something like that because we’ve got so many assets to trade with.
2 years ago it cost ARI pick 27-34-45 to move up to 11 and grab Geekie

Pick 27 is a likely finish from WPG but we don't have the draft capital this year to do the same. We would need to give '24 COL and surely ours in '25, likely adding a 3rd this year to offset it.
Lots of assets, but would be worth it in our situation.

Either way the challenge is to find a partner to trade. Who would be in a similar spot as SJ was, meaning a team in lack of draft capital that might want to have more quantity than quality?
