I don't think you're drafting a forward from 5-9 to play on the third line. At that spot, you're looking for top 4 D or top 6 F, and JR and AN are more likely as 3rd liners than CL, no offense.
CL is a centre, though, so it isn't really comparable. You can put CL on Dach's wing, but CL will most likely be playing PP2 anyways, so better to put him at C.

Okay, here's how it goes.

We win the lottery and take Cellebrini. Then we package our firsts together and trade up to get 12th... and then take Eiserman. We wind up getting the two highest scorers in the draft for the next 20 years.

Profit.
Which firsts? Wpg’24 and Cal’25? I think we’d have to add to jump that high

I don't think they're going to move Nick to the wing. Dach? Maybe, but it's nice to have a 6'4" center also on one of your top top 2 lines.
Dach was great on the wing. I’m sure Suzuki would be too.

The alternative would be moving Dach out of the top six at some point and he centers the 3rd line with Beck cente ring the 4th.

But I’d prefer both to be higher in the lineup.

Theres only one center that projects as better than Suzuki in this draft, and I wouldnt bet actual money on him being better.

Suzuki is an elite center and will remain a center.

But why draft a center if you’re going to put him at wing? Just draft a winger.

And if it were - Cellebrini? He ain’t going to wing.

It would be a great problem to have.
Because a center can easily shift to wing??? Lindstrom has a perfect game for the wing, hes basically a shooter version of Slaf.

A 6’4 Dach would be nice up the middle. Imagine if it were him and Lidstrom as our centers. Two big guys like that would be sweet.

In his recent interview, Dach praised MSL for seeing him as a top six center. That’s what he wants to be.

Either way, I don’t really care. I’m fine with Dach on the wing. He was awesome there.

Sure. But Lidstrom may not want to be a winger. Now you’ve drafted yourself a problem. Conversely if you draft Demidov you don’t have that issue.

And we probably won’t draft high enough to make the choice between those guys. If it’s Catton do we want him on the wing? I don’t think so.

If Demidov is there he should be the pick unless Celebrini is there. You draft Lindstrom if neither are there and you think hes better than the other 4 forwards.

Suzuki is a top 15 C in the league, you dont move that to the wing but for a top 14 C in the league. Better yet, you trade one of them.

Pretty hilarious that you consider Lindstroms opinion on his position but Suzuki? The actual 1st line C? Meh, who cares, right?

If you’re going to spend a high draft pick, you want to make sure he’s going to be happy changing positions. If not, don’t draft him. Otherwise you’re inviting problems.

I’m not sure why you don’t understand that.

And again, use a different- more likely - scenario. Catton could drop to us. Would we move him to the wing? I don’t see how that would make sense.

Yes we would also move him to the wing. Theres no players that will play center on the Habs save for two scenarios.
1. Celebrini
2. Long term injury to Dach.

Nope. Don’t draft him then. Take Eiserman or some other winger.

If you take Catton one of Nick or Dach go to the wing or Dach becomes a 3rd line center.
Yo Nick, captain and first first line C in 30 years, to accomodate this youngster thats clearly worse than you, we will move you to the wing. Hope theres no hard feelings.

None of the "c" prospec after Celebrini actually project as NHL Cs. It doesnt matter if its the Habs the Oilers or the coyotes.

It doesn’t have to be Suzuki. It can be Dach. Or you can move Dach down - but to me that doesn’t make sense.

But if you draft Catton, you’re drafting him as a center not a winger. Somebody is going to have to move. Not next year but down the road.

Let's say we get lottery lucky and we pick 2nd who do we pick, just curious

Lindstrom A Demidov B

Because you think the center is better and it gives you more flexibility. Dach may be someone who never gives us 82 games, we don't know. But injuries will happen and its better to have a flex option like that.

We wouldn't be taking Lindstrom because he's a C we would be taking him because they think he's the best forward available.

So is everybody on board with Iginla as the next forward pick if Demidov/Lindstrom are gone?

Celebrini
Demidov
Lindstrom
Iginla
Catton

Or something like that order?
I'd still prefer Eiserman over Iginla assuming both are on the board for our pick. We're still pretty starved for offense and don't really have a shooter for the 2nd line.

I get it and don’t disagree. But in interviews with him I’d be asking the question about willingness to move positions.

And it seems like a waste to draft him and then put him in the wing. His value is largely the fact that he’s a big center.
