Totally agree on Pronman's opinion. I also think his thoughts aren't worth much, but he is well plugged with scouts, and I think that's valuable as to what orgs are thinking. But that's pretty much all he brings to the table lol.The issue is that I am immediately attacked by people who very likely have never played the game at any meaningful level as is evident by them ignoring the facts in order to focus on someone claiming to be better than someone else in a particular discipline. There is a phenomenon of keyboard warriors saying crap that they would never have the courage to say in real life.
Like it or not, if you can not tell that Pronman is clueless then you do not have the necessary knowledge to make any claim about scouting. His breakdowns are almost comical in how stupid they are. He consistently makes egregious misrepresentations of skating ability, physicality, hockey IQ etc........the man is a 100% fraud who has never worked as a scout and is no different from your average meat head fan. Only an unmitigated moron could double and triple down on calling Hutson a better skater than Guhle or listed Romanov as one of the least physical dmen in his draft class. There are tons of examples of him making observations that are entirely the opposite of reality.
I made a comment asserting that I am much more knowledgeable than him and I am hardly alone as I also suggested that many other posters on these boards are also much more skilled at prospect evaluation than Pronman. The next thing that happens is personal attacks from people who just can't stand to deal with competent, confident people and the reasons for their disdain should be obvious and it is not because they share the same traits.
I am no hockey savant nor have I ever claimed to be but I am not a spineless wimp who finds confidence in others to be offensive. I admire people who are confident and take the time to offer nuanced and balanced explanations to support their theories. I guess too many people prefer Tik Tok style babble where nobody provides contact and you either imitate or attack but never learn or teach. This clearly was a signal for a specific group to attack and you may not appreciate that I referred to them as Beta's but Alpha's don't feel threatened by confidence and it was confidence that triggered the attack. I do not typically categorize people in this way but that was the most accurate way to identify a common trait among a group of people who were exhibiting very specific and predictable behaviour.
You and I usually seem to be in agreement so hopefully I have provided more clarity on my position and in particular my reaction.
I read that the other day. Such a waste of print. Clearly they don’t scout team needs.I made the mistake of looking at the latest Bleacher Nation mock draft
2024 NHL Mock Draft: Celebrini in Chicago? - Bleacher Nation
The selection order keeps changing, so let's update our 2024 NHL Mock Draft.www.bleachernation.com
8. Montreal Canadiens — Carter Yakemchuk, D
6-3, 195
DOB: Sept. 29, 2005
Shoots: Right
2023-24 Team: Calgary (WHL)
The Canadiens need help defensively. Yakemchuk is a really good defenseman coming out of the WHL. With his size and being a right-shot, the fit seems right. I would be surprised if the Habs don’t strongly consider one of the top defensemen in the draft here.
I would assume we draft 5th after San Jose, Chicago, Anaheim, Columbus. Same as last year. One of the things we have to pay attention to is what needs the teams picking in front of us have. Unlike last year, there are several good defenseman in this draft that could get drafted based on team need and push a higher ranked forward down to us.
Anybody got any knowledge on the needs of other teams?
You mean the MHL?He’s absolutely tearing up the league. I suspect he’s good
Anaheim imo goes for need. McTavish, Carlsson, Zegras, Gauthier. They aren't trying to be the leafs, I suspect. I think the dark horse pick is Columbus picking Lindstrom. I can see San Jose going either way because they have nothing besides Smith. I'm just hoping Habs go for a home run pick this yearI would assume we draft 5th after San Jose, Chicago, Anaheim, Columbus. Same as last year.
Except of Anaheim, they all could use top D prospect, but I am afraid all teams will be interested in top offensive talent.
99% Anaheim takes Demidov if he is available with their spot.
Anaheim has Mintyukov, Zellweger, Luneau among others on defenseAnaheim imo goes for need. McTavish, Carlsson, Zegras, Gauthier. They aren't trying to be the leafs, I suspect. I think the dark horse pick is Columbus picking Lindstrom. I can see San Jose going either way because they have nothing besides Smith. I'm just hoping Habs go for a home run pick this year
What was the other question about 5 bucks on the toilet seat, or 50 in the toilet ?Hopefully he has a good answer to "what animal would you be"
Yeah and between Zegras, Carlsson, Terry, McTavish, Gauthier, they will go for whoever's their BPA 100%. Could go either way, although I suspect they may go D. Someone like Dickinson would fit their team/need while also being BPA/close enough to BPAAnaheim has Mintyukov, Zellweger, Luneau among others on defense
They could go in any direction imo
Yeah. Russian juniors. His injury doesn’t seem to be an issueYou mean the MHL?
He's so quick and smooth at everything he does.https://x.com/lassialanen/status/1754871315608035389?s=20Demidov is imressive.
Of all the forwards eligible for the 2024 draft that I have observed, he is the one that resonates the most with Exceptional Talent....and therefore, if he is available, the Habs must select him. He's so quick and smooth at everything he does.
His hands are supreme. Real Patty Kane energymHe's so quick and smooth at everything he does.
And how many of those guys are legit top 5 talents? The people I mentioned with the exception of zegras, who basically neutralizes mintyukov, were all top 3/5 picks. They have no uber elite talent at D. Eventually you have to draft a heiskenen, Hughes, Makar, etc with a top 5 pick. Again unless you want to be the leafs. Personally I think Dan Jose fits the description you stated about the ducks and are unpredictable in who they'll pickAnaheim has Mintyukov, Zellweger, Luneau among others on defense
They could go in any direction imo
He is so fascinating to watch. He's so quick and smooth at everything he does.
One thing I'm curious about is the weight in say Gorton has this year in respects to the top pick. In the behind the scenes, it looked as though he was leaning towards michkov and allowed his staff to get Reinbacher instead. I don't think they pass on the Uber talented forward this time around. Hopefully with Columbus badly needing a 2C and San Jose and Anaheim badly needing defensemen, demidov is free by pick 5 where I predict Habs will land
Won't be surprised if the top 3 picks all end up being forwards
1. Celebrini
2. Lindstrom
3. Demidov
BPA always kicks inI'd be beyond surprised. Celebrini is going 1 and I would bet the next two off the board are defenseman as well, depending on the teams selecting.. but getting a projected #1 defenseman is more important for rebuild builds then getting a top line forward.
