After Celebrini, the next 8-10 top available prospects are all intriguing and should be core players for the teams that draft them. That is why this is an important draft for the success of our re-build. I may have my favorites in this upcoming draft but any one of Dickinson, Catton, Demidov, Lindstrom, Silayev, Buium, Eiserman, Levshunov or Yakemchuk I would be happy with. There is a considerable drop-off after the top tier. You draft him and you trade one of the other Ds. IMO, you don't skip on Hedman for Duchene because you need a forward. That said, I don't follow the draft much anymore, so I wouldn't know how big the gap is between the players in the top 10.
Something for sure, but a young top 6 forward who can benefit this team in the future? I'm not so sure. Most likely they're just going to keep him as a veteran presence on the blueline anywayI feel matheson can get us something. Since with the Habs, 68 points in 98 games and can skate like he can? Not to mention a really good contract. He has value and would excel with a Defensive partner
"Demidov is a better puck carrier than Bedard". Never change Grant.
I get the Spitfires games on my local cable station and I haven't been all that impressed with Greentree. Wyatt Johnston, Will Cuyle, Gabriel Vilardi, and even Logan Brown stood out more when they played for the Spits and the team was much better then. It doesn't mean that Greentree is bad, but it makes wonder what kind of an NHLer he might become. You notice his size and that he gets on the scoresheet. Not much else. I might be OK with the Habs taking him with a late first rounder or early second rounder. He's value pick if you get him in the mid-late second round (Colorado pick?). I doubt he lasts that long though.
I can't see us picking such a bad skater though I haven't seen too much of him.
But here’s the thing, would you not want to have Jason Robertson on your team now? I’m not advocating to get him with our first pick but say we get another first round in the early 20s and he’s still there is not worth the gamble?Skating isn't good enough. He's getting Jason Robertson comps because of the skating.

I made the Perry comparison a few weeks ago. People are 100% sleeping on him. Hes gonna be really close to 10 when the chips fall dow .I understand the concerns about his skating but I don’t think we can ignore Liam Greentree. This guy has Corey Perry written all over him (maybe less of a mean streak)
Catton isnt soft at all.I'd rather have one of the Ds than Catton. Do not want a soft, small forward with a top 10 pick.
Heck gimme Dickinson. I know he's a LD, still, he'll be a force.
Only small forward I'd want is Demidov, but they won't draft a Russian.
Edit: Dickinson is a right shot it seems. I want.
Meh its just one guy that hates him. Grant is fine hes just fishing for clicks a lot.Grant is always right about who the Habs will pick but it is an extra sensitive topic on these boards.
I like the depth of options as well. I have to put Parekh in there as well if we’re putting Buium and YakemchukAfter Celebrini, the next 8-10 top available prospects are all intriguing and should be core players for the teams that draft them. As I said, its a good draft to be in the top ten. Very good indeed.
I don’t think Parekh’s game will translate well in the NHL where he will have to play against bigger, faster and stronger players nightly. While possessing great offensive talent, Parekh is not an elite skater and is beyond passive in his approach to defensive play. I just see him being steamrolled in the NHL We already have better ‘Parekh Clones’ on the horizon: Hutson and Mailloux. Though my knowledgeable staff disagrees , I think there will be much, much better options available than Parekh when we draft.I like the depth of options as well. Maybe he's fine as a scout (doubt.jpg) but he has a terrible attitude, both on Twitter and the last few times he posted here he gets really butthurt when people disagree with him.I made the Perry comparison a few weeks ago. If we draft Dickinson, Matheson probably gone within a year or two. Or move Guhle to right side. He plays right affectivityI think there is absolutely no chance they trade Matheson this trade deadline. Ex Hughes client, Montreal guy that speaks French and is part of the leadership. Management has shown they value these things particularly the personal relationship part they have build with the players
2023 Montreal Canadiens draftI'd rather have one of the Ds than Catton. Do not want a soft, small forward with a top 10 pick.

Like most people around here, yeah.Maybe he's fine as a scout (doubt.jpg) but he has a terrible attitude, both on Twitter and the last few times he posted here he gets really butthurt when people disagree with him.
Lindstrom 11...
Excellent. He's not playing, so he's dropping.

I agree. If we have a surplus of draft choices resulting from the inevitable great sell-off I can see us taking Greentree at the bottom of the first round if he drops that far. Over the recent years we have drafted far worse skaters than Greentree. But with us drafting in the top 10 this year, there will be much better options available.I can't see us picking such a bad skater though I haven't seen too much of him.
My quick comments. There's no way Parekh is a better prospect than Buium, Dickinson and Yakemchuk. Sennecke will go much higher than 27 OA and Lindstrom isn't dropping out of the top 10 unless he loses a leg.Scott Wheeler of The Athletic dropped his Mid-Season top 64. His 1st Round:
