I really hope Tampa's pick is somewhere between 11-13.
2026. I think they traded their 2025 pickIf the Tampa pick is top 10 does it slide to unprotected in 2025 or what?
I thought that 2026 1st round pick was protected because it goes to the Blackhawks if 2025 is in the top ten.2026. I think they traded their 2025 pick
I'm trying to look it up, but cap friendly is being weird on my phone.I thought that 2026 1st round pick was protected because it goes to the Blackhawks if 2025 is in the top ten.
The 2024 Tampa pick is top 10 protected. If the Tampa pick is top 10 does it slide to unprotected in 2025 or what?
This is what I thought, thanks. The 2024 Tampa pick is top 10 protected.
If Tampa's 2024 pick ends up in the top 10, they will owe Chicago their 2026 1st round pick unprotected.
This is because Tampa traded their 2025 1st round pick to Nashville.
So how was Tampa able to trade their 2025 1st rounder if they already had traded their 2024 1st rounder with top ten protection? You would think that the 2025 pick would not be available since it could possibly end up being the Hawks. The 2024 Tampa pick is top 10 protected.

I'm pretty sure it always has been,So how was able to trade their 2025 1st rounder if they already had traded their 2024 1st rounder with top ten protection? You would think that the 2025 pick would not be available since it could possibly end up being the Hawks.
I think that's what would happen, yeah.I'm surprised none of the beat writers have been able to give us a definitive answer regarding what happens if that pick is top 10 this year.
From what I understand, we'll get the 2026 pick if top 10 conditions are met for this draft. That seems to be the consensus here.
But what the hell are the conditions of the 1st from the Jeannot trade? Top 10 protected, but what year does that pick turn into if it's top 10? Do they get that 2026 1st if we get the 2024 first? Do they get stuck waiting to 2027 if Tampa shits themselves and keeps their next two picks due to drafting in the top 10 in consecutive years? Did that trade mean that the Bolts are surrendering the 2024 pick no matter what it is, so they could make a trade potentially involving the 2026 pick (if the conditions for the 2025 pick pushes it to 2026)?
A bit of clarity here would be nice given the fact that Tampa looks like shit, they've only collected 3 out of a possible 8pts to start this season, and Vasi is MIA until December (maybe later).
2026 is a long ways off, but if we're looking long term, it could be huge for the organization to get a top 5 pick from Tampa. Colorado got 4th overall in 2017 (Makar) for trading Duchene to Ottawa. Ottawa got 3rd overall in 2020 (Stutzle) for trading EK to San Jose.Would be wild to be in a position to make a deep playoff run in 2026 and also have a lottery pick for the draft.
Having a high end player on an ELC would be like adding jet fuel to a fire for a cup caliber team in terms of depth.
Yeah Oliver Moore alone makes that trade a W. Like there's no way a prospect of his caliber should've been available there.2026 is a long ways off, but if we're looking long term, it could be huge for the organization to get a top 5 pick from Tampa. Imagine drafting a player of that caliber, along with Oliver Moore, for Brandon Hagel? Love Hagel, but I love that future a f*** ton more.
That’s what I’ve been assuming. It makes no sense that Tampa could push off our pick year after year indefinitely. The pick is either a 2024 or 2025 1st for us.
If Tampa picks top 10 this year we get the 2025 pick unprotected. Then Nashville will get 2026 pick unprotected.
If Tampa is not in the top ten we get the 2024 pick.
If next year Tampa picks in the top 10 Nashville will get the unprotected pick in 2026.
Trades don’t change after the fact.
“Hey Chicago sorry we owe you the unprotected 2025 pick but we traded it to Nashville so here is the 2026 pick instead.”
From what it sounded like when the trade happened, the 2023 1st was top 10 protected and would become their 2025 1st if conditions were met, while the 2024 1st was the same, but would become a 2026 1st if top 10 conditions were met.The pick is either a 2024 or 2025 1st for us.
