Interesting name to watch as a potential riser: Emil Hemming, RW from TPS in Finland. Big kid who seems to move pretty well and has great hands and a big shot, he had a huge Hlinka Gretzky that he carried into the Finnish junior season so far (8 goals and 5 assists in 6 GP) and has even got into a couple of Liiga games and scored in both of them. He seems to be slotted at the back end of the first round on a lot of boards so far based on inconsistency and needing to learn to use his size better but Button (lol) has him 9th and he does seem to have a top six toolkit if he can develop that consistency.

(I was confused by the music choice too but the highlights are pretty illustrative)

Nice! Big powerful top 6ers is one of our needs so to have more prospects like that (potentially for our second 1st) is great news.

The one I have en eye on early is Igor Chernyshev. Described as an old school power forward but he seems to have an awesome shot and some pucks skills too. Hope we get a legit lottery type talent of this ilk for Bedard and the rest to play with.

Timeline - Development question
While we struck gold last year lottery odds are against you even if your last.

Knowing at #2 to likely 4 you could get Levshunov but he’d need years to grow into a top NHL D man.
A serious cup contender needs a stud top 4.
If you could get a top (a star as projected by many) RHD for our draft pick would you do it?
Absolutely. Top pairing RHD don’t grow on trees

I think we're too early to prognosticate the top of the draft next year, but you absolutely don't turn down someone you project as a top pairing defenseman if he's the best prospect available merely because you think that he's a few years from being NHL-ready (which most blueliners are anyway).

Not too many cup contenders out there without a legitimate defensive stud.

Feels like right now its shaping up Way to early atop 7, With Catton and Silayve Moving into the Upper tier. im by no means a expert. But at this point you could probably make a argument that each one of them might make the best Pro.

Didn't see this posted here but..

A big blow for the kid.

That's terrible man. I feel bad for the kid, hope this adversity helps him.

Also probably the most interesting prospect to have this unfortunate thing happen to. He was already a mystery and sliding down. Wonder how much he will slide further if there's more uncertainty added.

Tough bounce for Kiviharju. I don't really see him on the Hawks radar unless he is a pure top 2 D and highly offensive. There was a stat on ESPN last year about the number of sub 6' D in the final four of the Cup finals and if I remember correctly it was 1 or 2.

I haven't watched enough of Kiviharju to make any kind of statements on him, but I think he's just too small.

What I´ve seen he isn´t great skater and that is when that size is going to be concern. Hard to imagine he is on Doneghey´s radar. Maybe in second round but the way they are building this team Kiviharju is not a good match.

Grant McCagg has Anton Silyaev as tge #1overakk perspective..BobMcKenzie has him goibg 9th....dofferencevof opinion?

But Silyaev is 5-9 already with several ranking..

McCagg has the consensust op pick of most ranking sources (Macklin Cenebrini)as his #2 overall..

Howver McCagg says he projectsas to not who is the best prospect now but also on the pro potential when fully developed 3 years +down the line..He says even now that Silyaev is better advanced defensively than Owen Power was in hus draft year.

Given that he ranks the KHL as better competition that U.S. college hockey and that Silyaev is already at 17 and a half playing minutes a game and beibg so good already defensively against men in the KHL ,he believes the kid will get plenty of development time to further get even better and max his great potential given all he can already do plus his already huge frame ...which will only get better once he finishes that development and cones to the NHL after 25/26 season..
In contrast to sone others he only has ArtyomLevshunov rated as tgex12thboverall pick.

He says the could change by tge final rankibg at the end of this season but he expects most of his current top15 to stay in the top 15 maybecwithbonly 1 orx2 falling down intobthec2nd half of roundvone..

He has Kiviharju at #15..butcadddd there are few 5'9 Dmen starting in the NHL or even pkayong i the BHL...so tgerevusxa lot goibg agaibst Kiviharju to stickni tge top 15 if others bemiw take a leap forward over this season.

The 1 thing to remember...Sikyaev is a left shot dman..pkayong LD...and Levshunov is a RD...Still it would be very interesting IF Hawks got lucky again in the lottery and had to decide between Silyaev and Celebrini as the #1BPA regardless of depth both at C and LD..

You are supposed to takectge BOA and not drat for position need.

Hawks needs would seem to be #1dman who can dictatev r influence a game as both a shutdown and scorong dman OR a top gun 2way forward who can help eitger line 1 or line2 turn i to so etching specialby complimenting Bedard or Reichel..

Eusermann is #4 on McCagg's rankingsBUT he says he has a lot of work to do defensively...deadly shooter but sone douts on2 way play.
He has Lindon dman Sam Dickensonat #5
...but from what I saw of Dickenson last season I anskeotocal of his decision-makibg at times...live tge physical attributes ,size and skating..I just wonder if the mental processing g will improve or not .I will gave tk watch and see if that improves or not.

At #6 overall he has Center Berkley Canton of tge Spokane Chiefs (WHL) who should torch the WHL this season...and at #7overal he has 6'1195lb Michael Nygaard RW playing now with Mora in the Allsvenskan league in Sweden..This kid startedtge year doninating in J-20 with 4 g 5 assists in 4GP then got promoted to the Mora Allsvenskan team where he has only 1a in5GP but maybe is not getting the minutes and role he got in Juniors.

In any case McCagg like his pro potential...as a a top 2 line power forward type. But you wonder if they will give himbenough minutes on a top 2 line to properly develop his game now. ratger than lower minutes on a bottom line..

Im most excited for this guy man.

If we could add him and he develops in the Werenski/Ekblad mold, it would solidify our defense fully.
I kinda doubt they'll be in position to take him. I'm expecting the Hawks to finish in the 5-10 range. There's always a few teams that are really bad that nobody saw coming.
