The best comparable for Celebrini is Joe Sakic offensively and suffocating like Toews defensively.

Hence we are looking at a semi-generational player in the making and he might win more championships than the purely offensive dynamos, because you just can't shake him.
A center that put up 1600 points that wins Selke's is one hell of a comp.

Celebrini is Fantilli with higher hockey sense. And Fantilli is gonna be a hell of a player himself. I think Celebrini will be a step above because he can think the game at a higher level.

Point from when he was drafted or point currently?

The point way back when was a 3rd rounder because of skating issues, which was then corrected.
Current Point.

A bigger version of current Point seems to be the best comparison if you listen to those nerds in the Draft/Prospects threads.

I've watched a ton of college hockey this year. The old lady is in school and I get a lot more free time. Macklin is a great player, he'll probably go 1, but I am not convinced he's some Joe Sakic reincarnate. Go watch his series vs UND.

Bigger Point is a decent comparable. I'm just not sure about his overall ceiling. One thing I do know is that if he stays healthy he'll be a winner. That kid is tenacious. He battles like Parise.

He was a good skater back then too. He got drafted in the 3rd round due to his size and people questioned his skill. I remember specifically someone saying that he didn't have the same hands and skill of someone like Nic Petan so he wouldn't make it.

They thought he was a small guy who played hard and that when he got to the next level he wouldn't be able to drive the net and play the way he did for Moose Jaw.

Alex DeBrincat scored 50 goals twice, once with McDavid and once without and he still got drafted late. Sometimes NHL GMs are just stupid. A ton of people on this site loved Point.

Not to be flippant but everybody scores a lot in juniors. Plenty of Point archetypes and DeBrincat archetypes go nowhere and it’s easy to say “team are dumb” when they hit. Drafting is hard.

Anyways Mack is likely a pipe dream as San Jose seems determined to out tank everybody. Eiserman on Bedard’s wing sounds pretty neat to me.

Not everyone scores a lot in junior. The list of guys thats scored 50 goals in their draft year is small. It doesn't have any failures.

That would be sweet for sure. Or Demidov.

There are 5 guys in the WHL alone that are draft eligible with 13+ goals on the season already. Obviously DeBrincat scored a ton in Juniors and scored a ton in the NHL so no need to litigate.

Interesting youtube from NHL Draft Pros on Early Risers for the 2024 Draft ...go check out the 5 kids they are identifying as early risers who could move up the board by end of season..

The one kid of the 5 they identify that caught my attention n ust from his video highlight clips is NIKITA ARTAMANOV a left shot playing his off wing on the right side,...5'11 189 ...

You can see sone very good abilities just from the clips.. Plus the fact he is playing 13 minutes a game for Torpedo in the KHL starting g as a 17 year old (turns 18 this month) says a lot that his team is giving him a higher role and more minutes than the usual first time draft eligible playing men in that league..

You can lots of great ability in skating,edgework.. passing, shooting, hockey sense...but he has sonething I have no tseen from many players that to me smacks of gotta draft this kid...that is he seems to have an ability to use an extra gear while rushing that let's him blow by checkers...You already think he his going very fast but then he up bursts in even greater acceleration past startled checkers ...I think he might be a special player who also plays vin all 3 zones.Do not know how farche might rise.. but I love what I see from teise clips..

His contract ends after next season...So unless his team extends him,he could come over for the 25/26 season.

His Consolidated ranking is 30th ...but eliteprosoects.com has him already #19..

But it would not surprise me if he rises to a top ten..

Bob Mckenzie has 8 of his top 16 prospects who are dmen. at this early stage.....so this draftvis going to be a lot different than last draft which was top heavy on forwards...given that: past the usual consensus top 3 forwards,(Celebrini;Eisernan and Demidov)there may be a lot of jockeying of forwards to see who should be in the next group of top forwards after those top 3 forwards..

After viewing his clips,Artamnov coukd challenge for 4,5or 6th best forward prosoect...so if Hawks miss out on a top 3 forward,or a top 3 dman ..and drafted 7th or a few morecdown ,Artamanov coukd be someone we could target ...

But it is early...we shall see what final rankibgs show by end of season.

Not really worried about the sample size of 20 games. If 5 WHL draft eligible score 50 or over 100 points total, they'll go high. Not likely they do. 2014 draft Point should have been gone by 35.

Not necessarily saying it was obvious Point was going to be the player he is now, just that if you score at that level and carry the team like he did in Moose Jaw, you need to get drafted high. Also junior scoring numbers are all nuance. No one should have cared about Schremp scoring 60 when he's 20.

So was Conner Bedard at this time last year. Not saying the Hawks will get the chance at Mack, saying if EDM can get three 1/1 picks in a row and four in a 6 year period, it's not out of the realm of possibility the Hawks could win it again. I wish it would happen, just for the LOL.

Would love to see Moore and Celebrini together. That's some serious puck hounding. Put Bedard there in the middle and that would be one hell of a line (I know three centers in this hypothetical).

Have you seen the start Rehkopf has had? I really wish we had picked him in the 2nd.
I did notice that. He really didn't take off like that last year and is shooting 22% so far. Does look great so far and I haven't seen any of Kitchener this year. Only his highlights.

The Athletic has the Lightning with only a 39% chance of making the playoffs, so that'd be pretty cool if we got like the 12-16th or so pick.

Wouldn't be shocked. Tough ass division. I was thinking it was just bad goaltending at first but man... they've seen some regression from guys. Stamkos, Hedman just aren't the same. Losing Palat, Killorn.. depth D not as good.

Kind of like Musty, he had consistency issues last season. He isn't having that problem so far. His shot is legit.

Yep, I've been calling it for a while now. That team lost a LOT of depth and there are a lot of miles on their core guys, who are having to play more minutes due to the lack of depth.

It's also gonna be interesting following the Leafs a year from now when Nylander is playing elsewhere.

A lot of potential for these "late 1sts" (as described by the majority of HF) we acquired to be in the teens or better.
