NHL Entry Draft 2024 NHL Draft Talk

Lots to like about this prospect. He's a C but looks like a winger to me. Did not crack Bob's preseason rankings. HockeyProspect has him at 2. Recrutes has him at 3. But their lists have been updated. Bob should have a new list coming this week I believe.
I would guess he's goes in the top 10.

Pretty wild that aragorn's draft wishlist is almost identical to what I expect the Sens' draft wishlist to look like.

At least what I expect it would look like if Mann were still running the draft. I'll be curious to see if there's a change in drafting philosophy with him gone.

Assuming no change in the kind of prospects they are looking for, I would add the following names to that list as potential targets:

Michael Brandsegg-Nygard
EJ Emery
Stian Solberg
Dean Letourneau
Nathan Villeneauve
Will Skahan
Jesse Pulkkinen
Spencer Gill
Colton Roberts
Simon Zether
Dominik Zadinka

Neither Boulton is a pro prospect, definitely not for the draft.
I am not disagreeing, but I am curious as to why you have arrived at that conclusion.

The way I was looking at it is that they have NHL bloodlines which is something teams look at favorably in terms of evaluating whether a prospect can put in the work to be a pro. They both play for the London Knights, which tends to produce solid and well rounded prospects. I figured neither would on on London's roster if they weren't reasonably reliable players. They also both seem fairly mobile and can throw some big open ice hits, which is arguably more valuable than their ability to fight.

In addition, from the rookie tournament, Connor Clattenburg and Jackson Stewart were the only CHLers aside from Djibril Toure to get an invite to main camp. Are Clattenburg and Stewart simply significantly better players and prospects than the Boulton bros? If instead they are closer in terms of ability then why wouldn't the Boulton bros be given much consideration whereas Clattenburg and Stewart were?

Decades of precedence, and watching them.

They are poor 4th line/pressbox players in the CHL, they aren't NHL prospects. They are struggling to stay afloat in the CHL and other minor junior leagues

Fair enough. I only saw brief clips of them. Maybe I would have arrived at the same conclusion if I got to see more of their play. I just like to keep an eye out for anything resembling Chris Neil as a prospect. If I come across clips of a CHLer who can throw massive hits and really fight I like to at least throw their name out there and see if they are legit prospects or not.

I assumed that the London Knights had a much higher standard for who they are willing to play. If they are poor 4th liners at the CHL level I would have thought that they wouldn't be on a team like London.

6'7 Dean Letourneau and he is a centre.
Forwards are getting taller and taller every year as our society is procreating taller and taller people.
Soon it will be hard for a dman who is 6'1 or 6'2 to compete against forwards that are starting to become routine heights of 6'5 6'6 6'7 etc....
Sure you can be fast and be able to manover well as a 6 foot tall dman, but those gigantic forwards have a huge reach advantage and can out muscle these puny...Lol 6 feet tall dmen.
Back in the day Pete Mahovolich, Bobby Smith, Mario Lemieux, Eric Lindros etc....were anomalies.
Nowadays however these kids that are giants are becoming more and more prevalent and they have excellent hockey skills.

The no cross checking rule in front of the net makes it easier for forwards to camp out in front of the net. So if you can park 2 or 3 of these gargantuan forwards in front of the net they are incredibly hard to move or to defend.

Would like to see more scouts hired, especially with the Sens having multiple 1st round picks, with the potential for more draft capital added at the deadline.

With Mann gone, a thin group is even more bare bones. The results the last couple drafts have been middling at best so far.

Me too. I would like a Chief Scout who has a career in scouting not a rookie GM or someone that helps out with some pro scouting at the AHL level leading. I would like an increased scouting presence in central Europe , Scandinavia and Russia. We are less than paper thin there. The CHL/USHL scouting can also be expanded by 2-3 scouts. The Dorion era really ran bare bones and we lost a couple of good people along the way.

Definitely, the group needs some bolstering. Hopefully they can make some adds before this upcoming draft.

I'm sure the priority right now is on evaluating the NHL roster. Scouting may be on the backburner with SS's tenure of evaluating the organizational structure being cut short by Dorion's firing. Along with the disastrous season as a whole, with fires popping up left and right.

I am a bit surprised no additions have been made yet, but it is understandable under the circumstances.

There aren't any superstar potential guys outside of Celebrini, but this doesn't seem like a bad draft, I'd be happy with Eiserman/Lindstrom/Helenius/Dickinson

Hey, everyone, I co-run AMScouting on YouTube (prospect channel). Some of you may have seen a video or two from the channel, but I do not expect that to be the case. We have not posted in a while, but we are starting again this weekend, so if you guys want to see anyone or like certain video formats for prospect videos, just let me know! I already have clips/videos ready for Dickinson, Cherynshov, Connelly, and Iginla.

Oh man, a scouting list that doesn’t have what side the prospect shoots on. FAIL
It's identifying centers as LC or RC, so really, the only situation where it isn't is if a RHD or RW plays the left side or vice versa (assuming they aren't just assuming the side by their handedness).

In the event that a players handedness is really that important, you can always verify through another source, but in this case, I haven't noticed a player who is identified as "R" be it W or D who is actually left handed. There might be one, but it hasn't stood out to me.

Edit: Just don't use Hockey DB as your source to verify, they are wrong on a few that I've looked at

Thanks.

This sounds promising. Hopefully there's a RD in there what we could grab.

TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button has seven defencemen in his top 12, starting with Torpedo’s Anton Silayev at No. 3, followed by Michigan State’s Artyom Levshunov (No. 4), London’s Sam Dickinson (No. 7), Saginaw’s Zayne Parekh (No. 8), HC Plzen’s Adam Jiricek (No. 9), Denver’s Zeev Buium (No. 11) and Calgary’s Carter Yakemchuk (No. 12).
