My four favourite players in the draft based on my limited readings and video..
Cayden Lindstrom
Carter Yakemchuk
Tij Iginla
Konsta Helenius

Since the team likes to hired people from tv broadcasters. Why not Stephane Leroux, he seems to know every young junior in the world

Yeah that was quite clearly not the time to do that. You don't trade the 7th overall pick when you've missed the playoffs for 5 straight years and just finished 7th last.
It would be one thing if he had immediately extended him, still a questionable strategy, but without an extension it was very high risk.

To me though, Fiala was the guy to target, assuming a move was going to be made. That, or a RHD but idk that one was available after Marino came off the market (and he wasn't worth 7 OA at the time imo).

Its quite clear this roster was no where close to ready for a move like that now and it was at the time. Extension or not thats not the play in a flat cap world when the sens were a lottery team.

It doesn't take long in this league to make big gains, NJD went from 63 pts lottery team (worse than us) to 112 pts playoff contender in the exact same season, a year earlier LA went from 27th in the league to a 99 pts playoff team (we were 26th the year we got DBC). Toronto went from last in the league to playoff the next year back when they finally to the step to contending. If the player fits the window, is they type of player you need, and is available, sometimes you have to make the move, because there may not be another opportunity to acquire that missing piece when it comes time, how long did we go searching for another top 4 D back when Karlsson was here. Imagine if instead of drafting Cowen we traded that pick for a 24 year old D man like Bouwmeester who got moved that same year.

Sometimes fortune favours the bold, if the fit is right, it can be worth it,

The sens aren't new jersey. There was no indication that was going to happen. I find it shocking you're bothering to defend this decision when it clearly did not work.

Bert, I was pretty clear that I didn't agree with the specific move, did you bother reading my posts before replying to them? without an extension in place it was very high risk and backfired, he didn't want to be here (which we'd have know if we made the deal contingent on an extension) so gave a half assed effort. That specific trade wasn't the one to do.

My point though is if a piece is available and fills a hard to fill role you need and can fit long term through your teams projected window, sometimes you need to make the jump because if you're always waiting for the perfect time, you might find that missing piece is no longer available and your left with nothing. It's happened to us before, be it a top 4 D we struggled to find for years, or a number 1 goalie in the past.

From my viewings this isn’t a great draft. Damn shame we will have a top 10 pick this year.

If we are 15 or lower we need to forfeit the pick

I think a lot of people don't realize how terribad Dorion's work has been. It's kinda hidden in the rebuild's context where it's EASY to sell assets for the best price you can get, draft high and cumulate picks as much as possible. People are just starting to notice recently because of the team results but that offseason before the 2020-21 was truly ALARMING. That was a clear sign that he had no idea what he was doing

But hey "let it go dude", it's not like we are stuck with the negative effects.

It's in Staios hands. He needs to be FLAWLESS for a while for us to get back in the race and start leapfrogging teams.

I think our goaltending will be fine once we play a team game at the NHL level.

Agreed on Kubalik and Tarasenko, I would sell them as fast as possible, they're a bit useless out there outside of when they score. Not the type of players we needed, like I was blablating about before the season. I'm always blablating by the way, until it becomes concrete.
I'm with you and can't see how anyone defends Dorion now. I think Staios knows how terribad Dorion's work has been. And that is a good thing.

I'll get my dictionary for "blablating", but I think I can guess :)

Imagine a future line of Tkachuk Lindstrom Batherson Ottawa's version of the Legion Of Doom

I still have connections to a few people in Medicine Hat who watch the Tigers regularly. They say Lindstrom is all tools, who can get by in Junior but are worried about the next level.

Ive heard its pretty deep at the top.

From what I have seen, I am not a big fan of this draft. I need to watch more, but it seems like every time I do watch a player, that player does nothing to entice me to watch another game.

Brought him up a few months or so ago, but we should be looking at Gill with our 2nd if he’s still there. Very good pro potential, really liked what I’ve seen from him this year.

BPA is my rec based on the consensus of reputable draft rankings. Celebrini is a virtual consensus top pick at this time. There are several VG Defensemen near the top (top 5). It will be very interesting to see the draft rankings before the draft. I hope we get very lucky in the lottery and pick 1st or 2nd.
