unless there are some sleepers in our rankings I’d likely be looking to package Boston 1st, our 2nd and whatever else to move up

A scout I know swears by Parehk. Said he's #2 quite easily. Hockey sense off the charts dominates games. High compete controls the pace. Seems like alot of great options this year.

He’s small though and the one thing that has to change with this team is they need at least 3 more Dman who can move players from the net and dig pucks in the corners

When you’re in a dirty area it’s on the Sens terms and not wishful thinking terms

Sandy - Zub
Chabot - D who move people
D who moves people - D who move people
Kleven - JBD

I think he's a great addition, and while I'm partial to Levshunov, I'm sure your buddy has a much more informed opinion on Parekh than I do, I just have a hard time looking past the stud two way guy knowing our needs, but if Parekh is really that good, BPA all day long. He looks so freaking good in the highlight reels, but I'd like to see more full games of him to get a better idea of where the rest of his game is.

He's bigger than Adam Fox though. Similar style player. I agree they need heavy d men but if you can draft Adam Fox you should probably consider it. I'm at the point where I'm ready to move on from both Chychrun and Chabot anyway. Is Parehk is the best player on your list draft him.

I am just against drafting a winger top 5 has to be a D or a center.

So he saw him live three times in the last 3 weeks. Thats what sold him, he simply controlled the pace every game. Competed in all 3 zones. Was the best player on the ice every game. As a 17 year old I don't care what position you play. If you're already the best player on the ice every game and there's no shifts off. That's special.

I'm happy if we get either of him or Levshunov, nice to see guys that fill a positional need being potentially BPA for where we are likely to be picking.

f*** dude, I was already hyped with this dude and your not making easier to stay level headed about him.

Parekh is definitely a special player . I think there will be a lot of discrepancy in the rankings depending what a scout likes. If you like high end offensive defensemen that can change outcomes of games you will love him. It is a huge plus strength of his game that is hard to ignore.

I've watched Parekh and Saginaw 6-7 games now. When his team needs a goal he really elevates and the coach doesn't let him off the ice.

Going to be some very interesting discussions making team lists this year.

I haven't seen Parekh play live, so I have nothing to contribute personally, but I found Brock Otten's (now with McKeens, but also longtime watcher of the OHL) mid-term OHL rankings interesting. He has him behind Dickinson and Liam Greentree in his rankings, while liking the player:

Would I draft Parekh in the lottery? Maybe, but there are many other high end defenders this year with more projectable physical tools. But once those players are gone, you just have to bank on Parekh's upside. The reality is that this year's OHL playoffs will make or break Parekh's draft stock...whether that is fair or not. He's going to continue to rip up the regular season. But what will he perform like with all eyes on Saginaw as Memorial Cup hosts? What will he defend like in the playoffs? The pressure on him will be enormous.

I thought I was done buying Hockey Prospects NHL draft black book but here we are again.....

I wonder how much HockeyProspect changes its rankings going forward...

They ranked Dickinson 3 .. highest of all D
Silayev 5 , Buium 10 with

Jiricek
Levshunov
Parekh
Yakemchuk outside the top 10 in that order... Parekh didn't have a very good Hlinka tournament . I wonder how much that had stuck with people.
Jiricek leading that group now would be very unusual.

Otten is the best in the buisness when it comes to the OHL so I trust his opinion for sure. Its funny the guy I talked to didnt love Dickinson. Said he is obviously very good but wonders about his overall upside. Gonna be a rock 2/3 but doesnt see number 1 potential. Says he is a very good player on a very good team but doesnt have high end upside offensively and isnt as physical as he would like to see a player his size.

The idea that Yakemchuk isnt top 10 is nuts. This type of player with his skill, size, mean streak and edgwork screams a guy that is just scratching the surface.

So one thing I will mention after reading the breakdown on Dickinson and Parehk they arent too different than what my friend said. I guess Otten is more conservative. My friend did say that Parehk's defensive engagement and heavy stick defensively was really improved from earlier on in the year. He is stripping and stealing more pucks. Seems like he is taking on a more engaged role which Otten does say he questions at times. Dickinson's concerns are the same he isnt great at leading the rush in transition in the neutral zone and he is pretty complacent down low in his own end. Which really rubbed my friend the wrong way. Anyways like I said the D men in this draft are a plenty, given Ottawa's weakness there if they dont land Celebrini they're going to get a choice of a high end defensive prospect. Lets hope they pick right.

I agree with Dickinson leading the OHL group. IMO he is the best 2 way D in the Draft .. his offense is coming. He is probably the safest D pick in the draft as well.
I like Greentree. I like Parekh more. If Parekh hits at the NHL level he will have a lot of scouts second guessing because his production is so obvious.

No idea but it will be interesting to hear their rationale.

I will say that although their rankings vary from other sources, their 2020 rankings were pretty damn spot on, especially for Stutzle, Sanderson and Greig.

I say take defence but lindstrom looks like byfield 2.0
Byfield 2.0 ceiling or Byfield 2.0 currently (Aka a good but not great player and definitely wouldn't go that high in a redraft)?

Levshunov and Brandsegg-Nygård would be a dream.

I think if Dickenson hits he will be a very good player. If Parekh hits he will be a great player.

I'd rather bank on the upside and the incredible hockey iq.

I think they are the best of that type of scouting service available. McKenzie is in a different ball park with his 10 NHL scout model.

People talk about Levshunov like he's a two-way guy but he makes way too many boneheaded mistakes and gets easily lost in the defensive zone.

He's basically a right-handed Chychrun. All tools but no toolbox. Not a guy who can be counted on to provide mistake-free defense.

If we're going RD I would prefer Parekh, as at least he should be able to provide enough offense to make up for his occassional defensive lapses, but I think there may be better options if we finish in the top 7.

This thread from Calgary puck forums has a guy named Sandman that has pretty good and thorough writeups. On this page you can find one on Buium, Parekh and Dickinson. No idea who the guy is or what his rep is. The writeups are good although people will always have different opinions. Its also important to note when the scouting took place.. is it in the Summer at the Hlinka , in October / November or later in January/February.. 17 y/o Players change and often improve over that stretch.
Here is one on Yakemchuk who plays in Calgary

Overall its not a bad draft discussion thread

NCAA conference playoffs starting
Buium and Denver in the NCHC playoffs Mar 15,16,17 vs MDU
Levshunov and Michigan state play OSU March 16 in a Big 10 Semi.
Celebrini and BU play TBD March 16 4:15pm

All these games are streamed.
