Someone please tell me this draft is looking elite, we need some good news.
the top 10 or so feels so stacked.

All the D are solid and all of Lindstrom, Demidov, Catton have top line and very projectable upside.

Feels like we should be happy with whoever we get a shot at and pick.

I did not compare his earlier list posted above fairly recently .. he did move Parekh up into 2nd.
Note: this is an prospects ranking for Ontario (OHL) draft eligibles.
He indicated that he'd have Demidov and Lindstrom 2/3 and Dickinson 4 on his personal list in a recent Podcast also posted above.

For forwards, I'm warming up to Lindstrom. Dude is a huge beast. He might be producing because he can use his size to out muscle his peers, but if he keeps up the muscle, him centring Tkachuk would be fookin magical.

I'm not convinced that the top 10 is stacked so much as (1) there's a clear drop off once you get to around 11 or 12 (depending on who you like), so the top 10 feels distinct, and (2) the guys in the top 10, after Celebrinni, all feel really close to one another because they all come with some individual concern or drawback, so there's a flattening effect.

In contrast, the top 10 in 2020 was closer to what I would call "stacked". That draft was similar in its quantity of prospects in consideration, but I remember the overall quality of those prospects feeling higher.

What's nice about this class, with where the Sens are at, is that we shouldn't find ourselves in a Boucher at 10 situation, where our pick falls just outside a distinct top grouping.

Do we take a forward like Lindstrom to solidify our top 6 or the gritty, physical Dman, which we desperately need? That is the question.

Losing Tarasenko, possibly Norris and Giroux's retirement on the horizon, you could absolutely make an argument for a top 6 forward.

On the other hand, we all can agree, our blueline is sorely lacking a physical RHD to shut down opposition.

I'm happy either way. Lindtsrom would be exciting... but Dickinson, Yakemchuk would be great too.

I still maintain we have a good team and are not that far away. We add a top 5 prospect to our mix, the future is that much brighter.

One last thing: all this criticism of Dorion for trading away 1st rounders for DBC and Chychrun. Well, you know where we'd be if we had kept those picks? We'd be Buffalo. They kept their '22 and '23 1st rounders and where are they? A few points ahead of us.

And so much closer to the playoffs with more depth. They had draft capital to acquire players that are making a big impact and can be in their long term plans (Byram), players on their ELC that have been contributing to their current push (Peterka, Benson, etc,), and a steady pipeline of more ELC talent (Quinn, Ohlund, Savoie, Levi).

Plus capspace that they could use to sign whomever they wanted. I'd rather be like them than us. Hopefully this draft give us a pool of ELC pipeline talent that can help us whenever we make our playoff push.

My guess is Montreal is all over this guy. They need a big C, their D rebuild has gone well

RDs the Sens could have a shot at with their pick they get from Detroit (Boston's pick) . These guys are all ranked bottom 1st to as late as mid 2nd depending on who you ask

Height and weight Elite Prospects
1. Charlie Elick 6'3 198 WHL Brandon
2. EJ Emery 6'3 185 USNTDP
3. Henry Mews 6' 185 OHL Ottawa
4. Adam Kleber 6'5 203 USHL Lincoln
5. Dominik Badinka 6'3 183 SHL Malmo

I wish they labeled RD LD like they do with wingers

I mean Parekh could go #2 or #10, Demidov could go #2 or #7, Buim could go #2 or #7 etc.

all of these kids are basically interchangeable and all of have top line star upside.

If the guy you pick at #10 has a decent chance of being the best in the draft. I think that's a pretty stacked top 10.

That speaks to the depth of that second tier after Celebrini. But what I'm saying is that the quality of prospect in that tier feels like a step down from the quality of the 2020 top 10, which I would have called stacked.

That's just my sense of things several months out, of course. Maybe I'll be more bullish on this class as I get to know the players better. We had all the time in the world to appreciate that 2020 class.

Everyone keeps saying it’s a great draft class and loves the top 10 but I’m not seeing it. Yea there will be a couple studs but this isn’t a stacked class or top 10

I think the counter point to this is you have players scoring at the third highest ppg clip ever in the WHL and players pushing the record for most points by a defencemen that aren’t even locks to go in the back half of the top 10. I think it’s a great top 15 but the problem is there are no elite skaters in the top 15 which is usually the most obvious easy to scout sign that a player is good and makes them slightly harder to project into the nhl. It’s why you have guys all over the place in rankings. That said I don’t think there’s anyone in the top 12-15 whose skating should hold them back from being effective nhlers.

7 D with top pair potential, Celebrini, a kid with higher skills than Michkov, a big hulking top 6C. Not all these guys will meet their potential but that’s a loaded top 10. If Russia was eligible for International play Demidov would likely be going top 3. If he falls to us he is 100% a must draft.

Yeah this is a very good draft in the 5-10 range. Like 2020, but I don’t think there is a D as good as Sanderson. Not sure there are any Mercer’s or Jarvis’ where you are quite certain you’re getting a top 6 guy on the teens, but the top end of the draft has a ridiculous amount of projectable players with large amounts of talent.

I think there are 3/4 D on the level of Drysdale with better projective tools, and I think there are multiple F on the same level as Rossi/Holtz/Quinn.

We will be getting a very good prospect.

Getting a guy like Elick with Boston’s pick would be icing on the cake, though I think he will end up in the late teens.

@BondraTime how much have you seen Tomas Lavoie. Is he a good option with our 2nd ?
I get to see most of the Maritime teams 5-6 times a year, I really like Lavoie’s pro projection, think he’ll be a guy teams fans get upset they picked who ends up being a very solid pick.

Not sure I’d grab him with a ~37th pick, though I really only have seen Q and USHL guys this season.

I like Spencer Gill probably a bit more than Lavoie, though Gill’s floor is definitely lower, really liked him leading into his Q draft and like how he has looked this season.

This draft is pretty good. Even if we are down at 7, we would be looking at Dickinson, Iginla, Parekh and Yakenchuk.

Iginla is really intriguing. He is going to score 50+ goals this season. He has a lot of tools(and pedigree) and he doesn't turn 18 until August! His father was rock solid 6'1, 217 pounds. Maybe Tij ends up being a bit bigger? That is something to get excited about.
