This draft is pretty good. Even if we are down at 7, we would be looking at Dickinson, Iginla, Parekh and Yakenchuk.

Iginla is really intriguing. He is going to score 50+ goals this season. He has a lot of tools(and pedigree) and he doesn't turn 18 until August! His father was rock solid 6'1, 217 pounds. Maybe Tij ends up being a bit bigger? That is something to get excited about.

Iginla seems to be the biggest riser of the draft. He was projected to be drafted at the end of the 1st round at the beginning of the year and now seems to be creeping up to be in the top 10 to 15 range.

He could very well be in the top 10 by June and could very well be on the radar for Ottawa.

Staois played most of his prime as divisional rivals with Jarome, you've gotta think it'll be hard for him to pass on Tij if he looks him in the eye and sees the same competitive fire he saw in Jarome. Obviously we won't make our selection on that basis but I wouldnt be surprised if Jarome is the competitor & opponent that Steve respects and admires more than anyone

The scouts have their work cut out for them.

We are in range of plenty of legitimate options, but they aren't all going to be stars.

Yeah going to be hard to screw it up too badly but would love a home run.

Just checking out Parascak a bit more . He's likely a riser.. HockeyProspect.com had him 21 on their mid term. Button had him 15 His production will make others take notice

Another player HockeyProspect ranked in 24 is not on many other 1st round or even top 64 lists is Colton Roberts RD 6'4 198 WHL Vancouver; So he should likely be another RD on the Sens list at the bottom of the 1st / or early 2nd. Bukala had him 31.

Colton Roberts really stood out at the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. He finished with two primary assists and was able to show that he can affect the game at both ends of the ice. If he can continue to develop the way he has over the last few months, he could find himself as a first-rounder in June.

Given how obvious an organizational need it is what do we think the over/under is on number of RD taken in this draft. I’m going to guess 3 out of our 8 picks are RD.

I dont see any scenario where he falls out of the top 10 at this point. He's really good. I dont like wingers in the top 10 but if the sens end up picking 8th or something id be happy if they got him. Id take him over Dickinson. But if one of the three RD are on the board id have a hard time passing that up.

I like both Parascak with our late 1st & Roberts with our 2nd rd pick, we have those four 4th rd picks we could use a couple to move up if necessary. Both guys fill a need, Roberts as a 3rd pairing RD & Parascak RW since we have no idea what the other 3 RWs we have will turn in to (Sokolov/Boucher/Petersson). Parascak is a better scorer than all three it seems.

Just Curious. If we were lucky enough to get the 1 or 2 slot in the lottery, would you draft one of the obvious top two players, or would you be open to a trade of that pick to a willing partner. Pick would be immediately impactful.

Something around their current Top 4 RD (their choice of the two), Top Forward AHL/Prospect (our choice of the list), 2024 1st and 2025 1st.

If that is too much, what would you propose.

I want to say open to it, but some fresh elite talent is sorely needed and can't think of a single team that can afford to give up their top RD (that would be what we need as well), their top prospect, and then additional firsts.

Hard no at 1st overall.

I don't know who you have as the second "obvious" top two player - there's plenty of debate over who will go number 2. I suppose I would consider trading down from 2nd overall if we were getting back (1) a needed roster player and (2) a pick later in the top ~8, but that kind of package is highly unlikely to materialize. Otherwise, they should take whoever's 2nd on their board, and resist the Dorion-like urge to mortgage the future for immediate help.

Who's the obvious #2? The next 10 guys after Celebrini are all pretty close.

My No2 is Demidov. I like several others at 3, 4, 5 etc but these are my top two. Seems consensus on different draft sites as well. I get that cases can be made from others for sure.

My actual pick at our natural spot would be either Lindstrom or Parekh, If somehow we could deal a player (like a Chychrun) for a high mid 1st pick I'd like to add Iginla. With late first Mews or Parascak. 2nd would be Massé, Elick or Emery.

There is no realistic scenario where we trade away a top 2 pick. Especially not for quantity.

I am not sure I can recall the last time a top 2 pick was traded. It just doesn't happen because teams don't want to make available the kind of player it would take to convince another team to trade 1st or 2nd.

It's more realistic that we trade our pick if we lose the lottery and end up in that 6-10 wheelhouse. Even then, I highly doubt we'd do it unless it's a situation like when the Islanders traded a high pick for Romanov, who was basically a top 10 talent that was still very young.
