I would expect Silayev to take a bit of seasoning. He's still 17. I think he is signed in the KHL for at least 1 more year maybe 2..
Yes, he might be too green; however, he is playing in the KHL and if he is as good as some say, he is certainly tall enough that he might be ready now for a 3rd pairing role.

Cooool. When you get the job, can I chauffer you about to games?
You can chauffeur me to the Ottawa Senators Home Games. :)

Interesting that the Flyers scouts pushed to get a 2025 1st from Colorado rather than 2024.

Could just be that they think Colorado will do significantly worse in the standings next year after going all in for it this year. It doesn’t necessarily have to speak to the strength or weakness of this years draft.

Silayev look like he got a veerrryy bad knee injury today

The way that knee hyperextends it could be his ACL.
How bad is it where'd you get the prognosis?
Seeing him require help to return to the locker room, several observers feared a serious injury for Silayev, fourth in the ranking of the 32 best prospects on the NHL site ahead of the 2024 auction. However, to their great surprise, he returned to the game later in the match. (translated)
Sigh of relief for him...being able to return

Don Boyd is running the draft im pretty sure. I agree they need to start hiring some scouts. I really hope they start to change the mind set. From what I understand Don is pretty good at his job from some guys that I know that worked with him. They like that he is the one in charge.
Better than Mann?

I need to watch more before completely going to bat, but I like what I have seen from John Mustard. I also like that fact that he is rookie scoring a PPG. Most players do no got from u16AAA to PPG in the USHL, can be seen as indication of rapid development.

Friedman has been saying that teams don't like the depth of this year's first round:

2. One trend gaining traction is teams destined to pick later in the first round aren’t married to their picks. Vancouver and Winnipeg already moved them. Sportsnet draft gurus Jason Bukala and Sam Cosentino see a drop, and several organizations agree with them.

Of course, he also calls Sam Consentino a draft guru, so what does he know.

Cosentino is a plug. A big plug with a hole in it. Just good for nothin'.

Would use our plethora of 4ths to hammer out some guys in the USHl.

Kleber is the guy who is likely gone, but assuming he’s there grab him. Very likely to carve out a role at the pro level.

Burnevik has impressed me with his progression this season, huge frame, can skate. Would be happy to bet on him with a 4th. Use our overaged pick similar to the way we did with Batherson.

Veilleux is a guy I’ve liked for a long time, he has been a stand out, stand out defender in midget the past 2 years, with lots of pro potential. Would have been much higher than a late first in the Q if he never told all the teams he wasn’t reporting. Smartest guy on the ice, always making the right decisions. He’s not going to wow anyone with flashy plays, but is extremely cerebral and dependable. Feel like whoever gets him will be getting a steal down the road.

You know Chicago is adding Celebrini to Bedard, which is a shame, but I'll take 2OA if we can get some luck for a change

A 6'7 defensive defenseman sounds pretty good to me

I’ve been saying for a while now it’s a weak draft and that it’s too bad we suck this year
