This is not a prediction, this is spoiler. Im gonna save you guys some time.

#1 Michael Brandsegg-Nygård
#2 Lukas Fischer
#3 Alexander Zetterberg
#4 USHL forward
#5 Overaged USHL forward
#6 Hakan special
#7 Kazakhstani kid who Draper liked at the U18 Worlds

I'll bet money on #2, lol. He's "tough to play against" and meets the nepotism requirement. They can kill 2 birds with one stone.

I've lost interest in the draft because of the way Draper picks. We might as well be guessing which Kazakhstani kid he picks in the 7th.

This won’t be popular on here and I myself am a huge Jiri fan…..

But Ive seen Fischer a few times now. He isn’t physical like his old man and looks lost out there for the most part. No real interest in him as a top 100 pick.

somewhere around nothing
He didn’t draft any players like ASP til he did. He didn’t draft any players like Raymond til he did. He’s mixed in other kind of players. If anything with drafting ASP last year it might tell you that once he’s got enough of a certain kind of player he’ll draft a different kind of player. We might be at that point with the type of forwards you’re alluding to.

Yzerman isn’t always so easy to predict… remember us talking about USDP players last year?
I do, i thought i had strong case but i guess im no Erin Brockovich.

When Raymond was drafted Wings prospect pool was empty but ASP was drafted because there wasn't a player like him in the system. And i feel the same way about MBN, Wings don't have a powerforward like him and Wings are softest team in the league. Kasper and Mazur can help in that, but i believe they want Kasper to be a center and im big believer in Mazur. I believe he can pull the piano in the top-6 but he can't be split in two, the other line needs one as well. And i think answer is MBN.

Good old fashioned "all goes well" scenario
Cat - Larkin - "MBN"
"Mazur" - "Danielson" - Ray
X1 - "Kasper" - X2

X1 & X2 = Berggren, Buchelnikov, Söderblom, Lombardi, Bicker, LDN, NDN, James, UFA, trade

Well balanced top-9, skill, speed and grit in every line.

My money for "USHL forward" with pick#4 is on this guy - Hagen Burrows at eliteprospects.com
Going to Denver, that seals it.

Kid is 6'4 with a very good skill set and was a top 10 pick in the USHL draft. He is doing pretty well in the OHL this year considering if he was born a week later he would be in next year's draft.

I would be totally on board with drafting him in round 2 or 3, even though people would inevitably complain about it on here who have not seen 1 second of him play.

You are missing the towering defenseman with 3 points in 147 games

Fischer apparently skates really well. I'd like to see more of him but it seems like highlights on this kid from this season are non-existent.

So I am pretty sure Mikael Samuelsson's son is in this draft as well... although EP does not have it confirmed for some reason.

Another nepotism/bloodlines pick? 👀

Here are detailed scouting reports on Bennett Senecke and Liam Greentree from Brock Otten, who covers the OHL. I could see Detroit liking both of these players. The report on Greentree does a heck of a job selling you on the player.

I’m pretty sure Draper lives on a street called Greentree, so he should be getting constant reminders to keep an eye on him lol.

With the way we’ve been playing I can see our chances at Nygard slipping away. Is it too early to take Fischer in the 20’s?

I think so, (from everything I've gathered) his game is too raw at the moment to warrant him going that high. I am thinking round 2 or 3 would be more appropriate.

Artamonov, iginla, Connelly, greentree
Has anyone seen Artamonov play? Or are we all just looking at his stats. I am really curious where that guy ends up getting picked, cause it seems like nobody has him ranked top 15 or top 20 despite the fact he is .5 PPG in the KHL.

We could certainly stand to add some skilled size to the organization up front. You could call it an organizational need at this point.

I know noting about him, but suspect that we could probably do worse than a PPG USHL player with our 4th pick.
