He would look so unbelievably good with a James Hagens type player. 2 talents like that together can dominate.

If this team sticks to the plan and have a chance to get the 1st overall pick this June you've got a potential for a revolutionary first line for the first time in decades.

f*** yeah, that's why I'm all for just an atrocious season for next year's draft. We can do it, any of the top 3 C's look amazing

But how can we ignore the toxic situation that Montreal made for Russian players during the early days of the Ukraine invasion - wide reports that we wouldn’t be taking any Russians in the draft that year and a full purge of Russians from our NHL and AHL teams
What toxic situation ? What did the team do to Russians that would be qualified as toxic and which players were purged after February 2022 ? Romanov in the summer ? They've drafted 4 Russians since btw.

We had no business to be in a position to pick, I agree. Don’t forget we also got lucky the last two games when Zona and Ottawa pulled of wins, and the lottery where we kept our 5th spot against the odds (6th was the odds favorite).
We barely finished one point under Arizona. It has very close. Is kinda crazy, we out tanked Arizona 3 times! Make it fourth?:laugh::laugh:

It's not a big leap to think that Demidov would be PPG for the year with proper icetime. No matter what happens though, I think it's safe to say that we have one hell of a player.

Usually, I find people overrate our prospects because when I watch them, shift by shift, I walk away a lot less impressed than what the raving reviews told me. Demidov is one of very few players that impress me more in viewings than in readings. I can confidently see the superstar in him. His vision and processing speed are tremendously impressive, more so than his hands and puck skills (which are already elite).

Be patient, and don't panic over fluctuations in ice time. He'll develop just fine. When he comes over next year, he'll jump right in the lineup and make an impact. As much as we'd like to see him here right away, the extra year will give him more time to gain strength, which is his main "opportunity for improvement" right now.

I'm well aware of that, it doesn't change the fact +14 doesn't mean much when we know Rotenberg isolates him as much as possible. The compete and skills are self-evident, but the +14 means nothing.
It's better than being -14. I brought it up as info to fellow readers, not to be necessarily dissected like this. Who gives a shit about Galchenyuk these days or what he accomplished early on? I sure as hell don't.

It would be a disaster at -14, because only very bad players would get stats like those while being played in isolation.

+/- is an extremely contextual stat.

Don't need to act so insecure, I'm not putting down Demidov, I'm a huge fan of his, but he is being played in isolation. Rotenberg often uses the 3rd line as exploitation, which is fine for a rookie and he's been more than up to the task.

Insecure sir I am not. I just didn't expect a simple promising stat on Demidov to be dissected like this.
All I was saying was that he is +14 which is a good thing.

Don’t remember the last time we had that caliber of prospect in the pipeline. Caufield maybe?

Demidov is a clear tier above Caufield as a prospect.

He’s in superstar potential group. Caufield is able to have great moments and be the best player in a game from time to time, Demidov will have the ability to dictate the entire pace of the game.

Patrick Kane / Nik Kucherov stuff.
