There's sure been some smoke about ROR in deals for a player that Trotz has said he won't move or at the very least honor like he has a NTC. Especially considering he was discussed with Ottawa.

I still think it's highly unlikely he comes here, but just something to keep an eye on.

Its pretty clear that Stan is pur 4th/5th Dman and any trade just bumps Miller out which prob makes us worse... i dont see it but the team does

I honestly dont see much our there that improves our second line.. hope chevy doesnt make a trade just for the sake of it - our bottom six is fine...

Playoff hopes depend on Scheif's drive and on Sambergs health... and Helle showing up - maybe Tuch helps but im just not seeing much value adds right now
Coming in late...
I don't have any confidence in either of our third pairing; Miller is over-rated IMO and Stanley is ...properly rated :naughty:. Would be happy to replace either or both.
Cozens would be an interesting add, but will cost us. I'd also like to see Appleton replaced on 3 RW.
Then there is the 'unknown unknown' trade, which Chevy has surprised us with in the past. Have a feeling we may be surprised again.

our bottom six is not fine if... our 4th line provides zero offense, we need more especially if we don't end up with a 2c

also it's pretty clear that our top 4 d are jmo/demlo/pionk/samberg, stanley would be #5 at best
Stan is the first guy moved up into the top 4 and gets significant pk time... thats what i mean by 4/5... regardless he is not our 6th and we are likely not replacing him on the roster

If he’s willing to go to a Canadian team in a wildcard fight, it would be stupid not to be willing to go to the Canadian team 1st in the league.
I would be ecstatic if we somehow got ROR

They're saying that Norris has been shopped for a year with no takers. Teams are obviously scared of his injuries and his contract.

Pretty nice for the Sens to move on from a guy with his injury history.

The Sabres are so desperate for a roster player in return that they're willing to take the big risk.

The path for the Jets to get Cozens would have been if Ottawa was interested in futures as the Jets never had a roster player to trade Buffalo for him.

stan was actually the 2nd guy moved into the top 4, it was fleury that was put with pionk during sambergs injury

Seems like the theme is if your giving up a center they want one in return.

There is no way Nelson gets traded for the return he did if Canada was on the NTC list. Colorado needed to outbid the best offer - likely Chevy - and paid with their best asset.

That said, still 3 hours to go and a ton of cap space. Winnipeg deal time is approaching, I’ll guess Tanev for a 5th is the least we do.
...or Lou was blowing smoke about Nelson waiving for Wpg to entice the Avs to cough up a better offer.

Palmieri re-signing in NYI it sounds like..... You probably could've gotten a 1st for him if these are the prices, which I wasn't expecting earlier this week.

It’s still shocking how little we hear about our deadline moves. At best, Dregs had a mild scoop about how interested we were in Nelson, which surprises absolutely nobody. We’re not going to hear about a deal until it’s finalized.

Not unless the prices start coming down. Hopefully a seller starts getting anxious and Chevy the grinder can take advantage. Having patience is key at this point.
Yup. I think Chevy is in brinksmanship mode, to a large degree now. It's always both a buyers and sellers market, depending on the asset. I would think that in the non-elite F group it's going to end up being a buyers market as the deadline approaches because they'll run out of buyers.

For higher-level players (especially C), it's more likely to be haggling over price.

As an example, if a team really wanted Laughton they could probably have him for a 1st, but if a 1st doesn't materialize will the Flyers take him off the market? Maybe, but they might also bring the price down to recoup something for him now rather than waiting a year.

10000% - the conflicting reports from every single insider shows the web he weaved, IMO.

Lou knew he had the marquee 2C option and used these little ploys to get somebody to cough up the very best offer and keep pushing the envelope.

The final nail for me was the last minute "contract negotiations" being held by the NYI/Nelson. Likely just BS to get teams vying for his services desperate in a dry C market.

Nelson is not worth what they ultimately got from Colorado at any deadline. Credit to the NYI for extracting that much value.

has it always been like this?

Ferraro, Tanev, and a C not named Laughton please.
I wonder where Tanev even fits in this lineup.
Who does he replace?

Can Chevy get TWO D?
I agree almost any move we make that inserts a D likely just pushes Miller out.
We're even at risk of right side Stanley...

I will say Stan does seem to be having a better stretch of games right now... but we've seen that before and then... face plant.
