The fact that Yager was rumoured part of the offer for Nelson makes me wonder if Chevy doesn’t see him as the future 2C we all do and if true, then I’m all in on Cozens or another young 2C, either today or in the offseason.

There's nothing saying the Jets were wanting to move Yager - in fact, it likely pushed them off the hunt when the bidding got that high, honestly.

That said, seeing the end result with it being Ritchie, it makes sense he'd be the piece the Isles would have been targeting.

Barlow as the prospect, for example, wasn't going to get you even close to Nelson.

I can’t remember the last time a prospect rated as high as Ritchie was included with a 1st in a TDL deal. Way too much for a 2C rental. I’m very happy Chevy backed away from that one.

Wonder if it's a swap of underperforming centers.

Would make sense for both teams and not something we can compete with.

Yeah I was shocked at the return.

Norris / Cozens would track and make a lot of sense. Big change of scenery type deal.

Buffalo was dead fast on trying to execute a hockey trade to bolster their roster and wasn't seeking picks/prospects.

May as well take a few more Cs off the board, eh.

I really know people dislike this opinion but I don't think we have a team built for playoffs, the bottom 6 don't have enough offence and outside of lowery no tenacious in your face fore checkers to bang on the d and get turnovers, and look what one injury on our d does to weaken it,dillon hasn't even been replaced, heck Schultz wasn't great but is he better than what's replaced his min, sandberg has really developed but demeo has taken a step back.as for stanley for the love of the game get clark gillies to take you to the weight room man and drag some players with you.
Even if the Jets are built to somehow dominate in the regular season while also being unable to compete in the playoffs, bringing in guys like Laughton and Ristolainen isn't likely to change much.

Everyone's basing the "not built for playoffs" off of a two series, 10 game sample and fall back on old Don Cherry bromides of "need more toughness" to explain it all. That's probably bullshit.

It may be true, but I have a hard time seeing the Jets not coming out of the 1st round if they win the division/conference. Getting out of the 2nd round might be tough, but what's working in the regular season shouldn't be discounted. Improved special teams, and better team speed seem to be making some difference.

Even as it stands Dallas does not have a great defense. Adding Ceci doesn't change much from the defense the Jets torched earlier in the year. Dumba is still

Colorado still has some holes too.

And the Jets probably have better depth than either team. Especially if Dallas goes all in on Rantanen.
I agree special teams play a huge part, heck Edmontons penalty kill last year was a work of art for alot of games,I still feel Dallas can ice a deadly pp,I think dumbas game is a turnover machine compared to Stanley, but to his credit he can upset your game.dallas has a fairly good mixture of yout and elders,so may come down to goaltending.for me Colorado is a wild card, their big trades last few years haven't seemed to gel,but always thought mittelstadt always took to many shifts off.

we were also the 8th seed and played the team that ended up winning the cup in one of those series while losing our #1 dman and #1 center during it lol

Yup, as it stands right now there isn't anyone available that would materially impact this team.

It will come down to what it comes down to every year, it will be up to the core to raise their level of play and get it done.
