Everyone harping about our goalies drives me crazy. Errsson is well below a save percentage of .900
Fedotov has played what 10 games in the nhl?
And Kolosov sure is lighting up the AHL.
Stabilize the D first then we shall see what happens in goal

I think he wants to move Hathaway up b/c Flyers don't go to the net and set screens for dirty goals.
Couts did so and that resulted in two PP goals.
But they rarely have a man in front of the net 5x5, which means lots of easy saves.

Hathaway has speed and size, concrete hands but he's not afraid to mix it up in front of the net.

The real problem is the forward group is undersized:

Couts, Foerster, Hathaway and Tippett are the only full sized forwards.
Foerster has potential in that role, but is inexperienced.
Tippett plays "small," relies on his speed and shot and doesn't use his body on a regular basis.
Couts has always been more of a finesse guy on offense.

Deslauriers has the size and grit for the role, but he's a liability in any other role, so if you dress him, it should primarily be for O-zone faceoffs where he goes to the net.

Gauither has the size for that role, but I think he'll end up similar to Tippett, a big shooting forward who doesn't spend a lot of time in the dirty areas. You only need one "Tippett."
Hathaway does not help the top 6 score goals.

You also forgot to add just not that good. GH should never ever in any kind of weather play a top 6 role.

Those lines scream that the HC’s job does not depend on winning games
Or maybe Torts wants out while still collects his cash.

If I were defending the Flyers, I'd have my D-men focus on the passing lanes and let them shoot away from a distance - without screens those shots have almost no chance of succeeding.

No defense can fix that giant 5-hole on Fedotov

Size is not remotely the problem. They could all be 6'9" and they'd still be getting throttled.

Hathaway does not help the top 6 score goals.

I can't even figure out how Hathaway setting screens is supposed to help make more goals with their playstyle. They keep the puck in the same half of the ice overall. The goalie knows where everyone is. There is not going to be any sudden shift where opposing goalies have to take stock of Flyers locations and manage it while having sight impaired. All it would do is get Hathaway hit by shots.

They've made plenty of cross ice passes this year.
Problem is they haven't made plenty of SUCCESSFUL cross ice passes.

If your players can't execute, the next option is to execute your players.

Could we do the same to say Lombardi, or Flahr?

Flahr is doing just fine, better since Fletcher left the room.
This is the 2nd year of what is probably a 5 year rebuild, by 2017-18 they should start to be competitive.
So far I have no problem with their drafts, especially seeing their D+1 seasons.

I would be shocked if anything that tracks this doesn't have them near the bottom of the league.

These are the players Tortorella wanted. The players didn't assemble themselves. Why are we blaming them? Perhaps for the first time you should ponder blaming management for failing every year.

Huh? What. These are the players they had.

The only players added since Briere took over are Poehling, Hathaway and Drysdale.
Seeler was already here.

The only player Briere drafted who is here is Michkov (Luchanko is probably headed out of town).

He's made no effort to spend assets to improve the team, it's called "rebuilding."
He's used cap room to garner more draft picks, not players.

Depends. Is passing on Perreault for Bonk improving on Stankoven for Tuomaala? Buium for Luchanko? Boldy for York? He’s remarkably consistent so it’s up for interpretation whether or not Flahr is improving.
Don't forget the great process of trading up and losing extra picks in the middle rounds where it's a known value loss to do it that way.

Yeah the d has been terrible. We have 2 Top 4 D and the rest are 5-6-7s. Where is our defense whisperer?

Truly, no other players have been shed at Tortorella's behest. Truly.

They are not rebuilding. Never have been. Never will be. Their actions don't match a rebuild. Their president admitted they lied about rebuilding. Their actions match that. Always have.

Alright guys here's my questions. Should we bring back Claude Giroux for the rest of his career? And Would Claude Giroux be willing to come back to Philly after his current contract ends?

I am genuinely not sure if he would be willing to. On one hand Claude spent a lotta years being an elite for this franchise, but on the other hand there is actually a few elements of a potential return he may not want to deal with. First is Torts would probably be his coach. Would a veteran All star on his way out of the league want to play his last few seasons in a Torts hard knocks environment? Second, Philly is still a high pressure market. Does he want to deal with that again in the remaining seasons of his career? Finally and most importantly, by choosing Ottawa he essentially packed his bags and went home instead of pursuing a cup with a contender. His wife is from Ottawa and his own home town isn't that far. Maybe he wants to drop anchor and settle in there permanently?

If Giroux was open to it, I would bring him back to Philly for whatever he has left in the tank. And from the above I think him being open to it that is a big if. Partially because he definitely has juice left and has looked really good with Ottawa. So he would bring good depth, but mainly I think he would be a huge benefit to Michkov. Not only can Mich learn from a long time star in this league, but Giroux can specifically help him navigate being a star in this city and leader for this franchise. That could be a really valuable add for Michkov

I'd say Boldy v York and Brink is fine.
We'll see how Perreault does at the NHL level.
Same with Buium and Luchanko.

Name me a rebuilding team with fewer 30+ players (among the 20 who play) than the Flyers.
