We probably should be pumping up Kurashev to move at the deadline too. With a 54 point season on his resume and arbitration eligible next Summer, my guess is his agent starts the conversation at 6 million per if he sniffs 50 points again.
If he puts up 50+pts on that 2nd line, he may be worth the money. I don't see that happening though.

and you're delusional in general, so i guess it evens out.
He is, but Kurashev won't be commanding 5+mil unless he does put up 50+pts on his own line. That's not happening, and if it does, it means he improved big time and would be worth a short term 5+mil.

In a world where Seth Jones makes 9.5, a 50 point Kurashev running his own line is worth 5.

This is a bottom 4 team even if Bedard puts up 100 points.

i have no dog in this fight besides seeing musto insulted for one reason or another. if he ends up being wrong it's just bonus points.

Why are y'all making up scenarios?

He's not getting overpaid lol.

He'll be offered 4M at most. Take it or leave it.

He doesn't have leverage.

And there won't be a late 1st round pick on the table for him.
So coming off a 25 point season an arbitrator hands Kurashev 2.25 per when the cap is 83.5 and he is going to take 4 (or leave it lol) with the cap at 92 million and a 56 point season on his resume....math is really hard.

They're not going to arbitration with Kurashev

If he doesn't like the offer on the table, they part ways

if by irrelevant you mean inconvenient for you, yes.
No, it means none of it matters considering, you know, he was a 40 goal, first line player at the time of the trade.

And the GM has nothing to show for giving away that much talent. And I'm not buying into the GM has a clue on how to build a Cup winner until there's actual results backing it up, nor am I buying into the whole "it's Luke Richardsons fault" hate brigade when the guy coached a pathetic Habs team to a Cup final.

The problem is the GM.

First time ever seeing an Asst. coach get credit for coaching a team to a Cup Final. lol

They'll either trade him, or let him go if he is demanding that much, before it gets to arbitration.

Dude what was with this narrative that Phillips would be some hot commodity on the waiver wire? It doesn't matter how busy the day was, it's not like there are that many players to sift through.

Phillips is a guy. He skates well for his size but he's not effective with the puck and he's struggled to keep up with NHL pace in his games. He's a depth piece. A depth piece that tons of other teams already have in spades.

Dude, tell it to the coach.

The timing of it is good; everybody is putting some players on. We definitely don't want to lose a big young defenseman like Isaak, but there has to be a decision somewhere in the organization and that's what it was this time.

Luke and Kyle don't want to lose players but that's not what I meant. The narrative within the Blackhawks media/twitterverse was that Phillips was highly likely to be claimed if put on waivers and I don't get why anyone would have thought that. He's just an organizational depth piece. He doesn't look like an everyday NHL player.

If a D was going to be claimed, he was probably one of 3-4 potential candidates. I saw his name floating around twitter a bit. I’m not surprised he was unclaimed but I wouldn’t have been shocked if he was.

He was a candidate to be picked up. Young, big, has done well in the A. Plus it's hard to judge a young player on this team; a more structured and overall better team might've had more success with him.

There was actually an article a couple of days ago from The Athletic listing the 10 best players on waivers, and Isaak's name did show up there, so it's not just us fans who thought he might've been picked up.

He was a candidate as much as anyone on waivers at any point. I read The Athletic article too and like I said, it was a narrative in Blackhawks media and fans that he was likely to be claimed. I just don't get it. You look around the league and every team has a guy like Phillips. I could see, later in the year, if he's put on waivers and another team has injuries, you could lose him. He's a depth piece. Like when the Hawks picked up Megna and Tinordi in previous years. But I don't think you're claiming Phillips bc of some perceived untapped upside, which to me, is why you'd put in a claim just before the season starts with a healthy group.
