No need to bring in Myers especially at multi-year deal

We have too many young Dman to waste a roster spot on him

Was it EDM or Kaiser who has experience playing RD? Rather they occupy that 3rd RD spot over Myers on multi year deal

Bring in Myers because Murphy is going to play about 40 games again. Myers is also 34 and may not play the full year. It gives a steady presence on the back end for the LD rookies. You can also trade Murphy or Myers at the deadline at 50%.

Signing Myers is probably aiming a bit too high for that role. Definitely need a bottom pairing caliber righty, but it has to be someone you’d be comfortable sitting if all of guys like Kaiser/Phillips/EDM are earning opportunities. I don’t see Myers being a healthy scratch

looking at what some players that are UFA's would get I feel like our best way to upgrade the roster is take on over paid players that are still NHL players. holl DET, Pagneau from NYI, Koptemi from CAR, Micheyev vancouver. campbell ED, kokentami Car. etu Lusotarinen or evan Rodrigues FL, tanner Jeanot, some you probably get assets back some you may give something but not a high value asset. I think then you sit out day 1 2 of UFA and see if people priced them selves out of the market and see if a few guys want to take higher market deals but 1 year or something like that. Lindbolm is a guy who wants $8 X 7. maybe if he does not get it and most of the cash on the market is used up you go 1 year 9 mil. kane is different. I would try and sign him day 1 on a 2-3 year deal.

Im more interested in a Matt Roy or Dylan Demelo, neither of whom will break the bank, but both of whom would offer some defensive support to the kids on D.

there are only 6 teams with less then 9 mil in space and there are 20 that have over 15 mil. AVG players are going to get more then you think

True, but Roy and Demelo dont have the box score stats to get big money. Even if they get more than I think, they still fit squarely into the ‘affordable’ category.

Roy and Demelo could very well be looking at 5+ aav with significant term. We don’t need to be playing in that tier just yet

You may be right, but I don't think they get anywhere near that. They simply don't have the numbers that teams typically pay for.

If they do want that much and term, then obviously the Blackhawks should pass.

Levshunov isn’t playing in the NHL next year.

Frankly, I think there are better odds of him being two years away (MSU + Rockford) than playing in the NHL next year.

Throwing him into the NHL would be Bowman level malpractice.

The more I think about it, the less I like the idea of Marner on the Hawks. He’s just the wrong age group, and not a leader whatsoever. And so so soft despite all the talent. Not to mention Leafs fans are absolutely convinced we’d have to attach Nazar to make the trade work, which is beyond ridiculous.

I’m kind of hoping for a three way deal at this point. We trade Jones to the Leafs, we retain 50% on Marner and then Marner goes wherever and we get whatever assets back. Sign Kane and whoever else to get to the cap floor.

he is 2.5 years younger. If we did that but did not have to include any valuable assets I would be ok with it. As much as we rail on SJ and his 9.5m, 29 year old RD with term do have value with the cap going up. were would seth rank in RD. he probably is top 5
