Watching Colorado Winnipeg here. Colorado’s 3rd pairing is Caleb Jones and Jack Johnson. When you have playoff teams trotting out them you can’t honestly say that Korchinski is one of the worst defenders in the league.
Seems like an example of watered down talent from expansion to me

I don’t think it’s expansion. Just cap strapped, top heavy team that is light on prospects from trading picks and having their depth tested with injury. Good example of when Rozsival went down and the Hawks were throwing out plugs like Rundblad and Cumiskey in the playoffs as bodies that just happened to be present.

There are always players that nobody really wants in the offseason because they aren’t good enough to help competitive teams and rebuilding teams would rather just throw a prospect in there since they’re gonna be about as good and they don’t care if they lose games. They’re basically waiting around for injuries, either of the any team anywhere variety running out of bodies (Hawks earlier this year) or competitive team preferring an older and experienced guy if they need to plug someone in as a 12th forward/6th defenseman.

This is probably where Entwistle is at next year. Maybe Raddysh as well.

Imagine how disastrous that 2015 trade deadline would have looked (2nd and 4th for Timmonen, 1st and Dahlbeck for Vermette) if the Hawks had lost to Anaheim.

Luckily, we don't have to imagine, and Vermy helped us climb the mountain. Praise be.

But agreed that it would have been a real pain in the ass to have dished out those assets for nothing.

Yeah, recall Vermette was a healthy scratch at the start of the Nashville series after being pretty terrible post-acquisition at the end of the regular season. Thank god he really stepped it up late in the Anaheim series and then the Stanley Cup Finals and it all ended up working out ok.

Definitely KK isn't the worst defender in the league.

Joshua shot 21% this year, only generated 84 shots on goal, and just had a three point night in the playoffs, game 1. He's primed to get overpaid and I'm good with that not being us.
Why? Hawks could use an infusion of that type of player. Add Stephenson and Joshua ASAP.

Because he's probably never going to shoot 21% again, so he'll have less of an impact while being overpaid.

Shooting percentage that high is scary.
He did shoot 15.5% last year, so it's probably a slight anomaly, but even if he regresses to say 17-18% or so, it's still a good number. We know he can score. I'd be in on a reasonable contract, but by no means should he get paid huge money, IMO. Problem is... someone is probably going to give him more money than he's worth.

I’d enjoy his physicality on a two year deal with high aav. Him Foligno and Dickinson on a line would be fun to watch.
A long term deal scares me.

Fifteen percent is an anomaly. That's like Jake Guentzel territory. Hard pass.

Numbers are all way up across the board this year.

It's kind of bonkers, actually.

Haven't looked back to see if they've historically been rising year over year, and this is a new trend or not, but this year they're kinda nuts.

I'm still with you, though. Someone is going to overpay the shit out of him with term, and I'm not interested in that.

I'd probably take him for 2-3 years with a decent cap hit, though. Just don't want to commit long-term, and that's probably what he's after.

I couldn't find the average shooting percentage for the year or any previous on what you posted. I believe they're up because save percentages are way down but year over year is it really that drastic from this season to last? Kuzmenko shot like 27% last year.

I'd expect forwards to have higher shooting percentages than the league average because defenseman on average don't take high danger shots anywhere near as much but again without an easily sortable set of data it's just me coming to conclusions based on nothing but my thought process.
