Ryu, Springer, Gausman, Bassitt. They didn't land any last year.
Hence why I brought up the last 2 season this one and last one regarding all articles saying Jays interested.... Ryu was a joke, Springer has shown to be an over payment and aging poorly, Gausman is the only one who has been worth the contract, Bassitt was questionable and it's aging poorly as well, so 1 good signing in what 9 years, and people still going to trust this management after last off season signings. Heck even their trades with Hernandez, and then Varsho, they've had 1 good trade in 9 years, the Kikuchi trade.

Playoff success under these guys after they got ride of AA players has been a big fat ZERO wins, these guys a joke, but keep hoping Jays are interested, good luck with that.

It's possible they move Bassitt and some of his salary out.

Yeah I like this approach. Hopefully the Leafs can dump his salary completely to a team that misses out on the free agent starters. 1 year @ $21 mill isn’t that bad for a starter that can eat innings.

Jays can get a #4/5 starter at the deadline if Bloss and Rodriguez flop.

They gave Votto a minor league deal and it didn't work out. Who cares?

Lots of people wanted to see him in a Jays uniform and get at least one game at the dome rather than thinking he was an actual answer to their issues especially with him coming off a rough 2023.

Another aging player who was on the decline, because this management couldn't land anyone of substance to help the Jays and hoping for a miracle, that's kind of Shatkins track record when it comes to signing players. Hoping they can turn them back into their old self, or just hope they'll get the same production numbers from that player from 3-5 years ago. But don't worry Jays interested.

When this management team literally comes out and makes excuses like we feel we have 10 hidden wins with the players we have right now, is the biggest pile of crap anyone can come out and say to try and justify their job security, once they said that, these clowns can't be trusted at all.

Friendly reminder once again that the Jays only had to offer 6.8M to retain Romano's rights (and be able to trade him) but chose not to.

I don't see how any of that has anything to do with your complaint that they haven't signed any of the players they were rumoured to be after.

You seem angry Chuck

Yeah i gotta say while these 2 guys are running the team, you can count me out as a fan.

I'll get my baseball fix from the Maple Leafs down at Christie Pits like i did last season.

This management group has to be up there with the likes of JP Riciardi or probably even worse.

I just can't get invested in a team i don't believe in.

My complaint about every article on free agents the last 2 seasons saying Jays interested, and then them not signing any, because Shatkins have a different mindset on players they're actually interested in.

I don't think JP deserves the level of blame he gets.

He was told to slash payroll and had to operate under contract restrictions that made his job nearly impossible (cough, 50M payroll, cough).

These guys are closer to the Gord Ashe level of incompetence.

I am dying to see what is dumb and dumber's plan for the bullpen. They did not want to tender him for a reason, you'd think. Atkins claims they had no medical concerns with his elbow. So what's the reason not to bring him back? Let's see their grand plan with the money they saved on Romano.
I guess they don’t think he’ll be closer, which is probably true.

I like to see the article.

I'd take Yimi back on the cheap.
I actually did like Garcia, I would take him back, yes he struggled with Mariners, but what I saw with him as a Jays I liked, but for some reason his name won't show up in any articles, I'm guessing due to his struggles with Mariners. And I still hate Schneider who thought Swanson deserved the 8th inning over Garcia, when Swanson came back, after how dominate Garcia was, just another example of why Schneider is a horrible manager and another reason why Shatkins sucks to keep Schneider for this upcoming season.

Well when you a fan of a team since 92 and you continue to see year after year of failure with these clowns running it for basically 9 years straight, I don't know how anyone could be happy with them.....
They have been bad the past couple of years, did some good things early on, but have really screwed the pooch lately.

Not sure im looking forward to what happens this offseason

Shapiro saved the spring site and put seating and standing areas in the outfield, although it still doesn’t compare to some other facilities, it’s 1000 times better than it was. On the other hand, he ruined the Dome for TV viewing with whatever they did behind home plate.

I don’t believe Atkins has done anything positive.

I'm sure management has their reasons for balking (pun intended) at that price for Romano.

The way it was made out, I thought he was destined to be an invite to some team's spring training.

Glad that I'm not the only one who thinks the new seating behind home plate is an abomination. It looks awful.

The only postseason wins they have had was the 1st year after AA left and that was AA team still, since then they have been in the postseason three times and haven't won 1 game, 2016 is the last time this franchise has won a postseason game. 8 years of failure with these guys, it's been bad for longer than a couple years.

I have no trust in these guys, their track record shows it, so yeah I have no hope for them this off season due to how poor this team has been run under Shatkins. I'd be more interested if Rogers grew a pair and actually got ride of them and brought in someone else, then maybe I could be a little more interested.

I know many are probably Leafs fans here, but as a Canucks fan if anyone remembers how the Canucks were being run under Jim Benning and the mess he did as GM, that's the same thing that's happening with the Jays. Once the Canucks finally got ride of Jim Benning, they've actually started becoming a better run team, and that's the same problem with the Jays right now.

Atkins spin on Romano is hard to explain.
Gl to him in Philly.

I’m well on board with signing an ace and moving off of Bassitt, even with some retention. He’d have some value in that scenario, I’d think.

I can also easily see a Bo trade in the cards after a bat is signed. I think you could reasonably expect a good arm in a package return, especially considering how modest his contract actually is.

Also, a jump up the draft order would be some fun news.

Or like how bergevin ran the habs for his 10 year tenure. Still trying to get out of those terrible contracts be handed out. At least leaf amd canuck fans can look forward to the playoffs. I cheer for mtl and the jays no playoffs with these rosters

Interesting strategy trying for burnes but if you land him you still need offense that wont be cheap. Dont know how this management can pull it off. Bullpen well you can get lucky

Let's go back 6 years ago and watch this interview from Atkins talking about how they're going to be extremely competitive in 3 years, and they'll be extremely disappointed if they're not. Oh and that player to be named later who was going to be such a big impact player for the Jays at the MLB level was Julian Merryweather.

Can't comment on Habs not my team, but trust what your saying being a fan of them. At least us Canucks fans have more hope under this management now, compared to what we had before which sucked.

I'm not saying Burnes is bad obviously he would be a good addition, he's not going to fix all their holes, and the Jays already have so much money on their starting rotation already. They need bats and bullpen big time and probably a 3B, I want to see more of Wagner because I believe he was the steal from that trade, not Loperfido.
