To be fair what can they do? They spent all their money on our now aging group of previous FA signings (Springer/Gausman/Bassit) while lacking the farm to trade for talent. (Which is to say they are f***ed because of their own doing)

He rebounded a bit this year, think he hit 19 HR’s in less than 300AB’s while somehow improving his once pitiful defensive metrics.

But yeah, not really worried about Sanchez, moreso that the O’s seem to spending under the new ownership group.

19 HR was 2023. This year was 11, also in a little under 300 PA, with a 96 wRC+ and 0.3 fWAR/0.2 bWAR.

A 96 wRC+ from a catcher is solid, but it also makes him like... Kirk without the defense. You could do worse as a backup catcher, but I'm sure as hell not paying $8.5 million for it.

It could be an indication that the O's are gonna start spending, but it could also be an indication they're starting to spend poorly.

Adley can also only catch 60% of games and he hasn't been that great back there as of late. Filling the rest of the starts with a lackluster defender in Sanchez isn't great.

No need to panic...at least not yet.

Most guys don't move until the winter meetings start. Adames is a bit of an exception to that but the bulk of guys will start signing deals in the coming days.

If Jays want to make Vladdy happy again and want to stay as a Jays in his future, trying to resign a Teoscar Hernandez would be a good thing to do imo. I know Hernandez pretty much turned down a return to the Jays this off season, but for the future of this team it would be a good idea imo. Unless they really don't care about Vladdy, because seeing him like a tweet with him in a Boston uniform was tough to see tbh, and shows he's not that happy with how things are being run I believe.

Adames is younger and plays a premium position very very well, and is also a high character guy. He is maybe a tad bit overpaid but a very good player on any team!

I just get the feeling Vlad is walking to free agency. If they feel that’s a possibility, they need to blow it up now. They probably sold enough $9 Black Friday tickets to sustain them

These idiots need to sign Vlad first. Absolute morons. And trade Bichette and get a real shortstop. They sit there with their fingers in each others ass waiting to hear a no from Soto just like with Ohtani and end up with Justin Turner.

There's hitters out there available. Bohm, Arenado, Polar Bear Pete, Goldschmidt, Santander. They just watched a good Maple Ridge kid go to Baltimore.

700 million is ridiculous when that’s what Ohtani got, with deferred payments, and he’s the best hitter and one of the best pitchers in the game. I’d bet they’re not seriously considering signing him.
