What would it look like and could the Stars afford Trouba at 50% and Zibby. He could play with either the Duchene line or Hintz and be a big shot on the PP

More about Bourque because I kept looking and saw it get worse then more I dug into the numbers.

His game log is bleak. Five of his last eight games are not only zero points but zero shots. Over those eight games he has a total of two shots on goal and one secondary assist.

Matches the eye test unfortunately. A good pass here or there, but he's not getting the puck much and he's certainly not shooting much. Lot of nothing right now. He's a super smart player too which makes it even more surprising to me.

I saw he got some PK time last game. Hopefully he can get more involved in some way. He did have 1 really good setup to Lundkvist against LA, but that's about it.

And honestly I figured Bourque would have a really slow adjustment to the NHL level but I didn't expect it to be THIS slow.

How about we just leave trouba out of the deal and just go for zibanejad. Ranger fans want him gone. Not sure why.

I think he would really help out hintz and Robertson on the top line and as you mention his right hand bomb of a shot on the PP would be amazing.

Trouba + Panarin
for
Dumba + Robertson + Bourque

I love trade proposals all fans will hate.

Actually I legit don't like it. I think dumping both JBob and Bork and taking on two 33 year olds is a bad move.

Seems like the Ducks are going to get Trouba anyway.

Why? He's not hurting the team.
Because he's useless if he's not producing offense. So unless he's gonna get a long look moved up in the lineup, it's pointless to even play him. Back and Blackwell over him easily right now. Hell, where's Blake Comeau at? Can someone send a boat to Robidas Island?

One could argue that’s part of the problem along with him being a rookie. Back and Blackwell are not helping him. He is a gifted set up man. Yet he is stuck with two guys who can’t finish and playing less than 11 minutes a game. He is doing just fine. The silly expectations that he would replace pavelski’s production in the offseason were just that. Silly. Give him real linemates and he will be fine.

I know where you're coming from, but I feel like we would at least see consistent flashes of his skill even if the numbers didn't match. He just seems to exist right now.

Right. Like I'd buy the linemate excuse if the problem was guys not finishing a bunch of great chances, but I don't see Bourque creating those chances. It's not like we have a long list of chances better linemates would have buried.

But I'm also all for pushing him up the lineup to see if a different role sparks different results. If it's just more of the same, then send him back to the AHL.

Read today that Nill is planning on trying to replace Seguin internally, specifically mentioning Borque and Stanky, and evaluating as the season goes on.

No reason to do anything with Borque but play him. He's not hurting the team, and he's not going to learn more in the AHL.

He's not on the roster just to be a warm body. The team expects more.

This isn't to say he's expected to put up big numbers. This is a league where a rookie forward scoring 30 points is often viewed as a good start.

But he's on pace for four goals and 16 points. That's bad, even for a fourth liner. That's worse than Faksa numbers.
We're like 25 games in

The one way I'll disagree here is to say producing zero offense does hurt the team. The fourth line giving them nothing is a problem and contributes to the stress when it comes to the team depending way too much on the Duchene line to carry them.

4th line is fine, Roope and Robo are far more concerning than the 10 minutes of ice time the 4th line gets. Respectfully disagree.

Blues fan here with a quick comment. I have been closely following the Stars for about 6 months now.

I just want to say that Seguin’s toughness should never be questioned after what he’s done to help you bank points early in the season.

It was reported that Nill saw this coming and had been planning for it. I wonder if Nill and Seguin agreed to let it all hang it out until the pain was too much and bank points now rather than hoping he returns from surgery in good-enough shape for a playoff run.

Pure speculation, but that’s the fun part.

Brock nelson would probably rule ngl but i dont know if hes the move. I think they need a longer term solution if they’re gonna shell out a 1st+ anyway.

In case some of you forgot, Bourque was tried on a better line with Benn and Stankoven for several games, and he did f***-all with the opportunity. Who do you want him to play with?

With Seguin out, there are now three lines worth of places to try. Might as well. It's not like there's other offensive help available until a trade is made.

Well, Bork should be playing both PP and PK to bring value, but that's not how this team operates. The Stars want players to "earn" their opportunities by doing the things they're not as good at first. There may be some hierarchical ancillary team-unity benefits to this approach. But it doesn't maximize players' skill sets. I would still be patient. Not every prospect is going to immediately light the world on fire, we've been spoiled with the run of Harley/Johnston/Stankoven.
