I think it's just a standard 24 hour period that each player is available to be claimed

I think it is just to get another veteran RHD who can reduce the playing time of guys like Zellweger and LaCombe. Provide more stability if nothing else.

Yeah there's a bit of a catch 22 there. I think the appeal is potentially being able to buy low on a decent RHD, but how do you even navigate that if he does play well? Seems a bit risky to take a guy off waivers and then end up giving him an extension of much value. Could end up right back on the wire next year.

I'm all for taking chances on young(ish) players with upside when they hit waivers, but for our purposes I think they have to be under RFA control and probably in the u25 range. Fabbro is 26, probably is what he is by now

Agreed. If the Ducks are adding on defense, it should be for a stable vet. Players struggling to make a lineup are a lot of this team and they don't need to add another in that category.

If Fabbro plays well, you sign him or trade him if he doesn't want to sign. Don't see why the Ducks don't take a chance here.
