Ducks make sense from a roster perspective. It’s been rumored for a while that they could be trading partners. Perhaps the time this is taking is because this is just a part of a larger deal.

I'm not saying the larger deal involves moving Gibson to a 3rd team, but...

We’d have to get creative on cap space.

It was interesting that Hench thinks the Avs will get Gibson before seasons end. Wonder if that’s all speculation

That's not good for us, Ducks just added a ton of money to their payroll and their owner will be even less likely to retain on Gibson now.

honestly, just to watch it all burn, can you imagine the rangers trading back for Georgiev, especially amidst the chances that Shesterkin isn’t going back.

I know it won’t happen. But damn would it be funny on here for a while.

I do enjoy Trouba being sent as far away from New York as physically possible.
But...but HOW on earth will the trouba family be able to move on ???

His wife works in NY - there are probably NO other jobs in california... they have to somehow find a way to put food on the table.

Man, being a millionaire seems really, really hard. :sarcasm:

Maybe glass half full here too.

The ducks were a cap floor team, they’re now 8M over the floor. This may encourage them to move out some salary. They may not retain much, but it was my belief that a 3rd team was always going to be needed for retention purposes.

Also, ultimately, the less Anaheim retains, the less they expect as a return.

Has any other NHLer ever been so beholden to their wife's career? Gretzky is the only other one who comes to mind.

I've maintained all along that whoever gets Gibson is actually doing the Ducks a big service. Nobody wants a 6M backup and this is Dostal's team. I believe Gibson's getting the majority of starts now as a showcase to potential suitors.

If the Ducks aren't retaining...how much is a 6M backup worth in a trade? I think you're definintely right about a third team being needed. The big questions to me are who is the 3rd team and do they have anything else that we would possibly want to explore adding into the equation?

Mike Fisher.

Left Ottawa and had no other choice but Nashville since his superstar country singer wife Carrie Underwood only wanted to go to Nashville.

When he was done in Nashville, he apparently wanted to keep playing either for another NHL team or if that wasn’t possible then in Europe. His wife said no and wanted him home with the kids.

Mike Fisher net worth - $25,000,000

Carrie Underwood net worth - $300,000,000
