Should have held out for that Hanoi expansion team
I've always said Hawaii deserves professional sports.

Mike Fisher.

Left Ottawa and had no other choice but Nashville since his superstar country singer wife Carrie Underwood only wanted to go to Nashville.

When he was done in Nashville, he apparently wanted to keep playing either for another NHL team or if that wasn’t possible then in Europe. His wife said no and wanted him home with the kids.

Mike Fisher net worth - $25,000,000

Carrie Underwood net worth - $300,000,000
Oh I forgot him. Good call.

Pretty sure we could get a 1st round pick for Manson judging by this Trouba trade if we wanted to move him...

C'mon guys - that's NICK HOLDEN.

You asked "Has any other NHLer ever been so beholden to their wife's career?"

Ah forget it - you humorless bastards !!!!
I'm not sure Nick Holden's wife had that much of an influence on his career. Maybe you don't understand the question.

I understood the question but decided to do a play-on-words with your use of the word "beholden".

If we trade Manson we have to get another big d-man. We already have a pretty small d-core and without Manson it would get much smaller and softer
Should be easy AF to get a big, heavy blueline at the deadline. Those guys are a dime-a-dozen. I'd like to see more of the Double Sam pairing. It seems to be paying off dividends, last game notwithstanding.

Again, I simply have no time for a bigger blueline if they can't win puck battles, which should be the entire point. This is where Manson is failing, and he's using his mobility to move the puck rather than move HIMSELF to hit people in open ice.

Yeah I don't think the Avs are trading Manson. These guys though :

- Georgiev
- Nuke
- Girard

I think Sammy G has been pretty good for the most part this year but sometimes to get something good, you have to give something good as well.

Why are we trading Val?

Post G trade our defense would be:

Toews-Makar
CDH-Manson
Kylington-Malinski

Obviously you'd imagine there'd be a G replacement at some point... but woof.

I’m not saying we need to have an entire d-core of big players, but we do need couple of them with some size. Can’t have 6 Girards out there

Is this a serious question ?

Yeah obviously you're getting a player who can replace him in return. Maybe a guy who's not as good but still a solid player who can play those minutes because you're also getting something else that you need.

I was gonna talk crap about also having 0 pants in the relationship, but at least in terms of when he left Nashville, a superstar wife not wanting to move their kids to Europe so her husband can keep playing hockey, when he's not good enough for the NHL, is kinda fair.

Yes it is. I mean Val is very valuable for us when he’s in the lineup. Right now he’s in the lineup and producing. If he screws up again and leaves the team, then he’s gone, but there is a chance that’s all behind him and he’s gonna be there for us from now on. Can’t trade Val
I think they can and they should.

Yes, he's very valuable and yes when he's in the lineup, he's very good.

At the same time, two years in a row - at the most important time of the year - he wasn't available to 'be very good for us' BY CHOICE.

It's very easy to say - if he screws up again, he's gone and sure - he'd be suspended without pay for an entire year with no guarantee of being reinstated (unless it would be for VGK, then it would only be a formality - wait, who am I kidding - if it was VGK he'd be able to snort as much as he wants without any testing whatsoever).

Look at it this way - you trade him now, maybe you get something that's not as good but something that you can count on next spring, all things being equal.

You wait and he screws up before the TDL - then you can use that cap space to get a rental but you have to give up assets in order to get something good to replace a Top-6 forward.

You wait and he screws up AFTER the TDL - then you get cap space but it's too late to use it and you're down a Top-6 Forward.

Not sure how many times this organization can get screwed over by the same guy but I'll be embarrassed if it's THREE YEARS IN A ROW.
