If its that true bout miller, he joins giroux in the hope they never win a cup territory for me
We had a campaign in place to say that the Colorado River was overrated.Thank God Miller said no to coming here.
If anything this ups my belief they get Seth Jones now. They've done this before, if they can't have the forwards they want they'll bolster the defense and hope for a miracle. Colorado needs less retention in a Jones trade, has better draft picks to offer, and I bet if you put a gun to Jones' head he'd pick Colorado with his dad and Sakic over going to f***ing Texas.
I bet you he wouldn’t, since Texas is literally home for him and where he goes when the season finishes.
Born in Texas. Moved back to Texas at 12 years old from Denver. Texas remains home for him in the offseason.
Ah shit, I had no idea he was from Texas. f***ing yee haw state.
Disclaimer: I live in Texas. It sucks here.
Chicago’s ownership is notoriously cheap and resents every dime they have to pay.If anything this ups my belief they get Seth Jones now. I'd put my money on a mis-translation or basically the context being lost in translationSo either that Lavoie report is incorrect or cMac traded Rantanen without first getting iron clad proof JT Miller would waive for Colorado? It'd be so moronic of him, I could actually see it being true. But I have to admit, that means cMac took a legit big swing at a true top six center. That shows he knows what the problem is, he's just failing time and time again to fix it.
Unfortunately, that was the last one left before the deadline and we're screwed.

The retention here is the key. Chicago would possibly give away assets if anyone would take Jones’ full contract just so they don’t have to pay him. That’s not going to happen given Jones’ NTC though (at least not until offseason).
So the ultimate questions are: (1) does Chicago think it’s possible they could get somebody to take the full contract in the offseason; and (2) if CHI’s actually willing to retain some $$, what’s the amount we have to be at to offset the assets dallas is offering?
15. Whenever the time comes for Seth Jones, the Blackhawks are not interested in a futures deal. They need youngish players ready to make an impact now.
The question is can we even afford Jones. We might need to give up Colton or Mitts. Not sure if Chicago will take some money back for free too so that we can fit Jones under our salary cap.The other point about Jones that hasn't been discussed, and hasn't been talked about nearly as much because the Avs have been very average since the cup run... is that this built is still built from the backend for Bednar's system to succeed.
Jones has all the skills needed to excel in Bednar's system. He can skate, decent puck retrieval, and can make a quick and smart outlet pass. The difference in puck-moving ability when we had Makar, Toews, G, and Byram ripping the puck up the ice to what we have now is night and day.
Jones goes a long ways to fixing that issue as we'll have another defenseman out there for 20+ minutes a night.

32 Thoughts: What will Jets, Capitals do at NHL trade deadline?
One week out from the trade deadline, Elliotte Friedman writes about what he's hearing around the league, plus some takeaways from the 4 Nations Face-Off.www.sportsnet.ca
Outside of Ritchie and maybe Malinski, the Avs don't have much of those to send to Chicago. Maybe you could argue Mittelstadt, but then they'd definitely have to go find another 2C at the deadline as well.
I don’t care what anyone says, I’m disappointed we couldn’t get Miller. Yeah his attitude might suck, but the chances of being able to acquire PPG or even PPG+ centers for relatively low cost are few and far between.
JTM would be coming to a team that’s won before, and that has several very good players, all of whom are incredibly hard working and dedicated to their sport.
Instead we’re over here crossing our fingers for Pavel Zacha.

Yeah Miller was pretty much the only option to significantly upgrade 2C this year.Center market is death. Mitts himself is one of the hottest commodities, which shows how bad the situation is.
Exactly. He has his warts but he was our only option really.Yeah Miller was pretty much the only option to significantly upgrade 2C this year.
