Friedman said a few weeks ago that the reason Mittelstadt’s name is out there is because of conversations they had with Vancouver about Miller.

Maybe Mittelstadt isn’t really being shopped. Maybe it all stems from that one trade attempt. If the right deal comes along I’m sure they’ll entertain things but I don’t think they trade him just for the sake of trading him. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if he’s still on the roster beyond next Friday.

I also won't be shocked if Mitts is still here, but it would be dissapointing.

15 points in his past 41 games, and Colorado has tread water since the turn of 2025 (11-9-2). This club needs something big to happen.

I mean it's pretty obvious he's not going anywhere unless we're getting an upgrade on 2C.

Definitely this, Mitts has more value then Chytil. I'm sure we had better offer but got bridesmaided yet again.

Cmac isn’t afraid to make big changes, and is known for making moves that the insiders don’t know about. We’ll have to see if he can get something done in the next week. It’s pretty obvious that they want to make an improvement at center though.

Center market is death. Mitts himself is one of the hottest commodities, which shows how bad the situation is.

So if you trade now Mitts for potentially good return, you won't have a "#2" center.

It's a bit of dilemma. There's no good available centers so in that sense we could get good value for Mitts but also means we can't find any sort of replacement for him, so we would have to ride rest of the season Drury as the #2 center haha. Which means game over.

But it's true. It's a good point to sell Mitts. Probably the highest price we can get is now even with his struggles. The market is brutal and many teams desperate..

Also I would add:

I don't think market sees Mitts as lowly as the Avalanche fans. He was Buffalos best center(or second) and put up good points before and did decently with Avalanche last season. Change of scenery trade. Simple as that. I think we undervalue him based on his current play for our team.

Mitts is a bad fit with us, but it doesn't mean he would be terrible fit for every team. I think he is a good player.
That the public knows of. Not everything makes it into the rumour mill, there very well could be guys out their that no one think should be available, but could be available for the right price.

Or we would have 0 Cups if Sakic listened to his scouts and took Seth Jones instead of following Roy’s advice to take Nathan MacKinnon.
I thought the scout's pick was Barkov?

Outside of Ritchie and maybe Malinski, the Avs don't have much of those to send to Chicago. Maybe you could argue Mittelstadt, but then they'd definitely have to go find another 2C at the deadline as well.
What if we get a 3rd team involved 🤔. I think NJ has been shopping for a 3C we might be able to convince them Colton can be that for them.

COL gets:
Jones ($3.5M retained)

CHI gets:
Nemec
Mercer
Malinski
Ivan

NJD get:
Colton
25'Car 2nd
25' Dal 2nd

So either that Lavoie report is incorrect or cMac traded Rantanen without first getting iron clad proof JT Miller would waive for Colorado? It'd be so moronic of him, I could actually see it being true. But I have to admit, that means cMac took a legit big swing at a true top six center. That shows he knows what the problem is, he's just failing time and time again to fix it.

Unfortunately, that was the last one left before the deadline and we're screwed.

If anything this ups my belief they get Seth Jones now. They've done this before, if they can't have the forwards they want they'll bolster the defense and hope for a miracle. Colorado needs less retention in a Jones trade, has better draft picks to offer, and I bet if you put a gun to Jones' head he'd pick Colorado with his dad and Sakic over going to f***ing Texas.
How has he failed again with Miller to fix the 2C? He had a deal in place for him. He can't force a player to accept a trade to Colorado.

I also very much doubt CMac wouldn't make sure Miller waives if Mikko's trade was dependent on getting Miller. That is not his MO. That tells me Mikko was being traded regardless.

NJ trades Nemec and Mercer for Colton and a couple of 2nds? Good luck with that.

Ok maybe Chi kicks in Toronto's 1st instead, they are actively shopping Nemec and Mercer has regressed quite a bit for them. It was just a thought, you dont think there is any kind of framework that could work there?

Ya 5 + 4 in 8 games with the rangers, yuck, we don’t need that type of production
Or Miller could have come here and very quickly divide our locker room, still get eliminated in the 1st or 2nd round, and then be stuck with Miller or have to sell him for cents on the dollar. I just don't want that head case on my team. Miller and Mack on the same team doesn't sound like a good recipe to me.

Why? Everyone knows NJ needs picks and bad contracts. Especially for a recent top 3 OA pick.
They aren't even using Nemec as their 3rd pair D and they dont have a world beater there. They have said he is available and the player is not happy, he does not have the value of his draft pedigree at this point.

Jiricek was in a similar situation to start the season with Columbus, up and down between the NHL and AHL.

Jiricek returned:
  • Daemon Hunt
  • 2025 1st
  • 2027 2nd
  • 2026 3rd
  • 2026 4th
Jiricek was the 6th overall pick in 2022. Nemec was the 2nd overall pick in 2022.

Nemec will still have a ton of value.

Yeah this. We've all seen teams that seemingly have no business winning a round in the playoffs actually win because all of the players in the dressing room gel and all work towards the same goal.

You would think that Vancouver should have been able to make it work but they actually had to trade Horvat and finally JTM himself because he's such an asshole. Throughout all this it seems EP40 is now broken and there is a chance they miss the playoffs.

No thanks to that 'me-first' selfish piece of shit. Rot in NY you f***ing loser!
