I would be really curious how some people here would react to such trade, after looking to trade Mikko away for so long, because "depth". And then getting EP40 for similar money.

I absolutely can if they like the Avs package best.

If they are moving Miller AND Pettersson, and Boeser is a strong candidate to be moved by the TDL as well, they are probably signalling a rebuild. No sense in not sending a player in-conference when you won't be competing.

Crazy to think that's a possibility with Hughes there.

They'd never do that. As much as I hate the guy (for rivalry purpose), he's their best player in franchise history. Above Bure, Mogilny, Sedins, Linden, Luongo, etc.

Vancouver is just a shitshow. Imagine being one goal away from going to round 3 last year. Now they might trade both top 6c's , their best winger and their franchise goalie not being happy/struggling hard af lol.

Depends how much the Sabres want to shake things up.

They'd likely prefer to send the Cozens + Byram package though. I don't even know why that trade didn't happen yet TBH.

1. Acquire new RHD and LHD for the bottom pairing. Shouldn't cost too much.

or

2. Acquire a new RHD for the second pair, pushing Manson down to third pair, and a new LHD for the bottom pair. This might cost more and makes the cap situation a bit tighter.

2nd pairing RHD is going to be a need in 2026 when Manson becomes an UFA, so if they're going to spend assets on a RHD now they may as well target a 2nd pairing calibre RHD, or they'll just have to spend assets again to fill the position 15 months from now.
