It's not even July and people are bemoaning us not trading for non-entities from the Blue Jackets. It's like the board has flipped upside down and started working in reverse.
People have talked about getting him here before but now is really not the time, nothing has changed with our screwed up cap crunch yet. Even if we ship out 4 mil, it's not like we get to go shopping for new toys.

Get it done. Don't care if it makes sense or not. Avs need their swagger back.
You're a shit player on a shit team.

The rumor mill is that Montreal has two players they really want in the late 1st and the Avs and Bruins have been linked to at least one of them (unsure on the other). So Montreal has been working to get a pick in the 21-23 range and found a taker.
What are your thoughts on Badinka?

I don't know why I fall for it every year, when the "insiders" claim the trades are going to be bananas, moves you never thought would happen. They say that every year, but it's always crickets. I guess I'm just goable.

Makes sense. He was a high 1st round pick originally and now has the benefit of having lived up to those expectations.
He's on a very good track, played very well in the AHL.

He has played 3 NHL games. I would hesitate to say "he has lived up to expectations" just yet.

It's easy to be "gullible" this time of the year 🙂

I would absolutely go after Askarov, but the problem is that I am 100% sure Avs like what they see in Annunen and probably have no reason to trade for Yaroslav (which is a mistake).
What makes you think that the Avs see Annunen as a long- term starter?

I can see the desire, but I don't think it makes sense to push all the chips in on a guy who's going to mature outside of our cup window.

Avs have always valued or overvalued internal players, it happened under Sakic and even more so with MacFarland at the helm. To further add, we have pretty much zero personnel in our system that specialise in goalers, so they all think Annunen is legit even if he's slower than a 747 in a tar pit. They probably have zero clue how much potential Askarov has where he's absolutely worth the gamble. Picture a less injury-prone, yet taller prime version of Varlamov.

I argue that he's on the verge of being close to NHL full-time, he is good enough for a backup role right now.

I don't have anything to go myself, but I have a hunch that we'll see the Avs make a move for a new starting goalie in the 2025-2026 off-season to replace Georgiev
