Whether you think DeBrusk should have been extended or not is beside the point. The main issue is that they let him walk and did nothing to address the hole on their top 6. Instead they spent that money on a defenseman we didn't need.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I'm happy with strategy. I know they assumed adding Lindholm would address the offense issue, but clearly more was needed and still is.

I'm just saying that Jake going on a hot streak is nothing new. Five goals in five games at $5.5M seems great. But it also comes with stretches of no goals in many games with no passion or pulse. Part of the package with young Jake.

If I knew why I'd have fixed it and Jake would still be a Bruin -- maybe the one of most beloved.
