What's their alternative? They're already giving the guy who is technically the backup two-thirds of the starts in net. None of their non-roster guys has ever played a single NHL game, nor do they have some sort of long-term AHL veteran around, and even if they were to try one of them, moving aside a player on a $5.9m cap hit tends not to be easy, so that might be an issue.

Kraken are stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one. They could try and sign some cheap vet, but potentially available goalies of any quality at all are in short supply at the moment.

Grubauer was very good for both the Caps and Avs, but he's underperformed his entire time in Seattle. Some of it can be put down to sitting behind a new time finding its feet, but far from all of it. Whatever has gone wrong there, it's only getting worse, and that contract still has two and a half years to run. Tough situation.
Daccord clearly beat out Grubauer last year Aussie.

Boston won't catch TB. TB has 5 F with 10 or more goals. Bruins have exactly zero and are mediocre defensively. Teams to worry about are just about everyone else, not TB.

They are only half a point ahead of us with 2 games more to play.

They were behind us yesterday.

They are much better offensively and I will take Hedman, McDonagh, Cernak
over McAvoy, Lindholm, Carlo. I will give a slight edge in net to Boston over TB, as
their backup has yet to prove to be an NHL caliber backup but that is offset by their edge upfront and their D.

Bruins need to beware of almost everyone behind them as Philly is ahead of them now and TB is flat out better.

Yeah of course. And Daccord is more than earning the number of starts he's getting. I was looking at it purely from a contract point of view - Grubauer was the one signed to an initial 6-year, $30+m deal and was the designated starter. Daccord was brought in as a backup and was initially paid accordingly. When his extension kicks in next year it'll be different. The Kraken are lucky he's broken out to be a genuine no. 1 netminder. But having your other guy be borderline unplayable remains a problem.

Yup 2 powerplay goals.Up to 9 on season & scored in 5 straight games.
Would have helped this team for certain.

Les Gros Bill, a player so great and graceful Canadiens bought an entire minor league simply to sign him,

Good for him, never should have let the kid go. He's better than 90% of the forwards we have now.
He's on a typical hot run now so all looks good.

This board could not have handled his new salary while he was cold.

Nucks fans were grumbling earlier this season. History suggests pretty strongly they will grumble again later this season when he goes cold.

Whether you think DeBrusk should have been extended or not is beside the point. The main issue is that they let him walk and did nothing to address the hole on their top 6. Instead they spent that money on a defenseman we didn't need.
