NCAA/OHL Roundup January 6th to January 8th

Samoskevich I believe with two goals and two assists this weekend as Michigan beat the USNTDP U18 team in an exhibition 7-6. Not sure on the boxscore, as this was very hard to find.

Denver split their weekend series with Alaska Fairbanks. Benning had three secondary assists (two on the pp), and Devine scored a goal.

Haché with a goal and an assist for the defensive defenseman this weekend.

Schwindt also got two assists this weekend for Mississauga.

Haché scored his second goal in his first game for his new team Barrie. Looks like he jumped in the rush, something he didn't do very often with Kingston.

Vilmanis had two primary assist for Sarnia. He is now back from the world juniors. He didn't get a point in his first game back, ending his streak. His first assist was pretty nice, a nice hard pass to the front which was deflected in.

Charlotte snapped a mini 2 game losing streak with a sound 3-1 win.
Now sitting at 19-14-3 so far.

Ludwig had a couple helpers, he has 5 assists in his last 8 games, definitely trending in right direction of late.

Kinnunen scored a PPG, his 5th goal of the year, he has 4 goals and 8 pts in his last 10 games.

Gudza picks up another win, his 9th on a fairly light night, stopping 19/20 to move to 9-4-2 on the year.

Wheeler ranks our prospect pool at 26.

Essentially, we've got quite a few prospects (he listed 15 guys) who could be something at the next level, but not a single difference-maker.

Top4 is Samoskevich (projected here as middle-6 winger), then Sourdif (projected 3RW), Denisenko and Benning.
Next tier: Nause, Puutio, Guzda, Devine, Jansson, Noel (if he ever actually plays again, Wheeler also has no idea WTF is going on there), Ludvig and Gerasimyuk.
Third tier: Kos, Vilmanis, Uens

Notably, he seems low on Vilmanis, who he ranks 14 behind Jakub Kos.

Mackie ain’t a middle 6 winger. He’s a top 6 guy or bust. Wheeler is a fraud.

Thanks for sharing.
I disagree with his rankings a little bit, but it is nice to see write ups on all the different prospects.
I have been high on Gerasimyuk since he was drafted, I just don't follow him as much because I don't really follow European team prospects. He will be interesting if he ever comes over to North America to see what we have here.

I checked in recently with the North Bay Battalion fans. Arnsby has been out since January 5th with mono. He just started skating the other day in a jumpsuit.

Krygier with a goal this weekend. This guy has done much more than expected this year. I feel like it's safe to say he might have earned himself a look in Charlotte next season. No highlights.

Vilmanis had two single assist games this weekend.

Schwindt also had an assist this weekend.

Not great news, but Samoskevich did not play both games this weekend. No idea why.

Charlotte with a 2 game sweep of Rochester on the weekend, with a 4-2 and 5-3 win, moving them to 23-15-4, currently 3rd in their division.
They're 4-1-0 in their past 5 games.

Attached scoring logs below:

Carlsson is on a bit of a heater, with 4 goals and 8 pts in his last 7 games.

Heponiemi has a goal and 6 pts in 5 games since being sent down on 21st.

Sourdif with his 6th goal, he's got 2 goals in last 3 games since missing nearly a month of play.

To my fellow Canadians, I see on Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. on TSN 5, Denver is at Colorado College. Your chance to watch Benning and Devine in action!

Good news, Samoskevich was playing last night for Michigan after missing all of last weekend's series. He registered an assist.
Also registering an assist were Haché & Krygier.
