I’d love to see us push for a WC spot, but I just dint see it happening without a legit 2C being added, and I’m not sure I want to spend the assets for one at this point.

Last year's deadline returns were very, very underwhelming. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility we could find someone to help our center depth without a painful return.

Broberg, Holloway and Bolduc are going to speed up our re-tool quickly. Great to see
We got back to back incredibly well timed things. The offer sheet squeeze and the Montgomery sudden availability. Montgomery is hypercharging the latter two, they look night and day.

Your overall point is right on point. It's noon on the west coast they're playing the lowly Sharks and still sitting in a skeptical 9th-11th-ish place, and I am glad at around 5pm I'm going to get to see these three players play hockey

Consistency means praising Armstrong for beginning to get the team out of the hole that I criticized him for predictedly putting them in, so good job by him to absolutely strike while the iron was hot twice.

Funny line from Marek. He launched a new podcast last week, and it’s been a good listen. On todays, he had Pierre McGuire (who I don’t necessarily miss listening to like I do Marek).

Mentioning todays specifically because they got into a little conversation on Robert Thomas as the end of the episode.

I really really really want to see Holloway get a shot with Thomas. I would run these lines at some point.

Holloway - Thomas - Kyrou
Neighbours - Schenn - Buchnevich
Saad - Sundqvist - Bolduc

Trotz has been running the Preds like he's playing NHL 25. Losing both Fabbro and Tolvanen to waivers were two that were insane to me.

I know that Trotz' big free agency spending this summer has looked awful with the early yields. The Askarov trade and Saros extension are questionable as well...

But crediting Trotz with waiving Tolvanen seems odd. Tolvanen was claimed on waivers Dec 12, 2022 and Trotz was named GM on Feb 27, 2023 officially taking over July 1, 2023. Poile may have asked Trotz' thoughts about it as a senior advisor, but it was still Poile's ship to steer at the time.

Trotz' early tenure in Nashville certainly doesn't look great, but stick to blaming him for his actions and not those of his predecessor re: Tolvanen.

The whole Fabbro waiving seemed odd to me at the time, makes me wonder if something had been going on behind the scenes to force Trotz to get him away from the NHL club.

Marek is the best. He's our national representative for the Robert Thomas fan club.

Glad he's back on the air. I'll miss him on the SportsNet draft coverage, but his new situation is clearly giving him (A LOT) more flexibility in doing the show he wants to do. The Sheet, IMO, is already the best hockey show going.

MvsW is still the best hockey podcast/show ever and his vibe on the Sheet is very much the vibe he put out back then. I'm extremely happy to have him back on the air and even happier that he is unconstrained. It's already a daily listen for me and my only real complaint about it is the terrible commercial placement. I know he hates structuring his show around ad breaks, but it is brutal the way ads just cut in mid-sentence.

I think the criticism of Kyrou is because he has the potential to do so much more but he doesn't. it's like he's coasting and still putting up those numbers but if he really had the intensity of walker or Holloway then he would be blowing his current numbers away.

I don’t understand why this is so difficult to comprehend.
Moving this out of the Holloway thread.

Honest question. If Kyrou did magically hit that next gear, are you willing to allow him to make bad turn overs while trying to constantly go 100% at all times or are we going to shit on him every single time he turns it over?

Another question. If he does hit that next gear, do you really expect him to do it when he constantly gets stapled to Saad who had not had a great start of the season?

We want Kyrou and Thomas split up and Thomas Gets Buch and Neighbours and Holloway gets Bolduc. So that leaves Kyrou with Saad and Schenn. Kyrou and Schenn has been working this year.
