So the Finnish ref had it out for the USA? C'mon, Man.

What's more disconcerting is the USA gave up almost 50 shots.

And while it's not popular to say on here, another championship game where Luke Hughes seemed to fade rather than dominate.

Plenty of blame to go around for sure (the top line was a combined -8) but to this point there should be some concern.

His game is trending more Keith Yandle than Victor Hedman (good for fantasy hockey but in terms of winning championships not so much).
3rd in game score and had 20% of the US’s shots. He had a blunder on the EN goal when it was 5-2, but he had a fine game other than that.

I've learned a long time ago that many people just prefer to be right above all else, especially over prospects. It does make reading these type of threads both a bit annoying and entertaining to try and weave through the clear biases to find more objective insight.

The clique - or "Mean Girls" as I like to call them - both gave this tweet a like:

And that's all I could take, I let it rip in the comments section.

It’s just such a weird dynamic with those people. They’re always the victim, always the injured party even when they’re the ones slinging mud against a teenager.

I don’t much care if they like any prospect or not, that’s part of the job. There will be disagreements. But with Hughes it’s so obviously about more than his actual performance on the ice. Pretty sickening, really.

I thought Luke had a pretty good game against Canada.

He is who he is right now. He will have some positioning issues defensively in the neutral and defensive zone and he will make some offensive plays that few can make.

WJC reiterated how scary for defenders Luke can be when he starts skating downhill. It feels like he grows 5 inches and puts on 25 pounds when drives to the net.

Hughes has an impressive set of physical tools and already does a pretty good job using them.

Nemec has a good set of physical tools and does a very good job maximizing them.

If I could get these 2 to rub off on each other, that would be great.

Let me guess, Sweden's 2nd goal is Hughes fault lol
No idea what #12 was doing on the breakaway prior to that either. Left Luke in a real bad spot.

Luke not really joining the rush. I’d expect that to change if it’s toed in the 3rd.

Wow they really made the final/bronze medal games a back-to-back with the semi's yesterday? That's kinda lame

Ufko has also been aggressively both giveth-ing and taketh away-ing all tournament long, you never know what you’ll get from him in any shift.

I like the Czech’s defense core more than any other teams in the tournament, even though Canada obviously has more higher drafted talent.
