So is this kind of a Bardakov situation then? Because every time I see something on Bardakov, I really like what I see...but then I'm like damn, he looks so sloooooooooow and lumbering.
Yeah, I don't think we are looking at a top 6 forward with either player. But I think we can have a very good bottom 6 guy with either Hauser or Bardakov down the line, and that's very good, especially for where NJ drafted them.

I can’t help but love brazen New Yorkers and that’s Steve in a nutshell. He is a Rangers fan, he just crapped on Brodeur and I still love listening to the guy.

They ultimate goal for many “online scouts”is to gain viewership not to give the best quality feedback on every prospect.

Steve’s prospect reviews are a more of a passion project. He has had some success, the Devils have interviewed him a few times before the draft. He is also against, how harsh the critiques are that media place on young hockey players. I’m not saying he is perfect, he is a Rangers fan.

It’s a really weird take to trash L.Hughes’ character/ability when the prospect world is reeling from multiple issues from top to bottom. If they have some inside scoop by all means let us know, but it’s almost slander at this point.
I agree with you 100% and the line "I'm not saying he's perfect, he's a Rangers fan" made me laugh out loud.

That's what happens in the NFL too, people use the term character issues so broadly to tank draft players value or stock. It just happened with a Georgia DL who's supposed to be top 3 in the NFL draft. If it's something that's a legit problem like he hazed someone or did something cruel, for example, please let fans know because we're more invested with these guys as fans of the team. If it's something as missing team meetings then that's easily correctable when it comes to players. But it's dishonest reporting to widely paint the latter as character issues.

There are advantages to being on your offhand, but also disadvantages. Especially in the defensive zone, being on your offhand is tougher.
It's easier to clear the puck out on the side you shoot on , in terms of wrapping it around the boards. Off hand side is a pain sometimes having to clear pucks on the backhand and whatnot.

I’m not sure what the bolded means. What do players usually thrive off of if not their talent and physical advantages?

In my opinion, if he were to jump in the NHL right away, L. Hughes would be one of the best skating and offensively creative D-men in the league, right off the bat. He’s that elite offensively already, at 18.

Does he have work to do in his own zone and defensively? Absolutely, 100%. Will that be a point of emphasis when he comes up? Absolutely.

What it means is that he makes bad decisions, bad reads and makes bad passes pretty regularly. But he's so damn elite at skating and stick handling that he easily makes up for those mistakes/covers then up. And I don't think he will be able to do that in the NHL as regularly. He's thriving on lesser competition not because he's a fundamentally sound player but because no one can hang with his skating and stick handling. He is going to have to incorporate solid fundamentals to succeed when he gets to the NHL and I think it will be a challenge for him for a bit.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not worried. Maybe more tempering expectations. He's not going to jump into the league and immediately be Erik Karlsson.

Oh don’t get me wrong either, I don’t think he’ll tear the league appart right off the bat haha! But his skating and offensive abilities are truly elite, so much so that I think he’d jump in as one of the best skating and most creative D-men and I think the sky is the limit for him.

He’ll probably need an adaptation period though, especially in his own end.

Recap:

Luke Hughes with 1G, 1A (gets him to 3G, 1A in 4 games) and 22:10 of ice-time (led the US once again).

Topias Vilen with no points (0G, 1A in 4 games) and 21:17 of ice-time, he was second behind Heimosalmi who got 23:15, most likely with more time on the PP.

Canada running away with this, 3-0 already.

Wow that was a dirty hit, should be gone for the knee on knee.
