Yeah, I don't think we are looking at a top 6 forward with either player. But I think we can have a very good bottom 6 guy with either Hauser or Bardakov down the line, and that's very good, especially for where NJ drafted them.So is this kind of a Bardakov situation then? Because every time I see something on Bardakov, I really like what I see...but then I'm like damn, he looks so sloooooooooow and lumbering.
Luke Hughes is not playing LD in NHL.That goal happens because he's on his offhand.
There are advantages to being on your offhand, but also disadvantages. Especially in the defensive zone, being on your offhand is tougher.Luke Hughes is not playing LD in NHL.
He's too good at RD. I am very sceptical they make him change.
I agree with you 100% and the line "I'm not saying he's perfect, he's a Rangers fan" made me laugh out loud.I can’t help but love brazen New Yorkers and that’s Steve in a nutshell. He is a Rangers fan, he just crapped on Brodeur and I still love listening to the guy.
They ultimate goal for many “online scouts”is to gain viewership not to give the best quality feedback on every prospect.
Steve’s prospect reviews are a more of a passion project. He has had some success, the Devils have interviewed him a few times before the draft. He is also against, how harsh the critiques are that media place on young hockey players. I’m not saying he is perfect, he is a Rangers fan.
It’s a really weird take to trash L.Hughes’ character/ability when the prospect world is reeling from multiple issues from top to bottom. If they have some inside scoop by all means let us know, but it’s almost slander at this point.

It's easier to clear the puck out on the side you shoot on , in terms of wrapping it around the boards. Off hand side is a pain sometimes having to clear pucks on the backhand and whatnot. There are advantages to being on your offhand, but also disadvantages. Especially in the defensive zone, being on your offhand is tougher.
Hughes is more reminiscent to me of a young Cale Makar, when Makar was at UMass.Anyone else watch Luke Hughes and see Dougie?
I’ve seen this comparison mentioned but I honestly don’t see it. The extent of the comparison stops at “offensive D-man” for me.Anyone else watch Luke Hughes and see Dougie?
I’m not sure what the bolded means. What do players usually thrive off of if not their talent and physical advantages?
In my opinion, if he were to jump in the NHL right away, L. Hughes would be one of the best skating and offensively creative D-men in the league, right off the bat. He’s that elite offensively already, at 18.
Does he have work to do in his own zone and defensively? Absolutely, 100%. Will that be a point of emphasis when he comes up? Absolutely.
Oh don’t get me wrong either, I don’t think he’ll tear the league appart right off the bat haha! But his skating and offensive abilities are truly elite, so much so that I think he’d jump in as one of the best skating and most creative D-men and I think the sky is the limit for him. What it means is that he makes bad decisions, bad reads and makes bad passes pretty regularly. But he's so damn elite at skating and stick handling that he easily makes up for those mistakes/covers then up. And I don't think he will be able to do that in the NHL as regularly. He's thriving on lesser competition not because he's a fundamentally sound player but because no one can hang with his skating and stick handling. He is going to have to incorporate solid fundamentals to succeed when he gets to the NHL and I think it will be a challenge for him for a bit.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not worried. Maybe more tempering expectations. He's not going to jump into the league and immediately be Erik Karlsson.
Luke scores! 4-1 US!
Super wide turn and it wasn't even against men.Bust. He did a super wide turn when the camera wasnt on him just prior to the goal.
