Atkins traded a non trivial amount to get him so they’re not gonna DFA him. Optically, that would look terrible.

They did do this a couple years ago with Brad Hand, although the acquisition cost wasn’t nearly as high.

That would be the most ideal, or get him to the injured list until September call ups, can they ethically do it and get away with it? Cimber is out of options as well I believe, so that would force a decision with him as well when he’s back. And if they were to bring in another arm in trade in addition to Green and Ryu before the deadline, that would force even more decisions.

Imagine if they hit to their potential. that's what people mostly bitch about. The pitching more or less has been outstanding, minus Manoah's disaster two months before he was sent down.

The pitching is what kept them from not bottoming out. Now the hitting seems to have been better leading into the all star break and after, so maybe they can have a better run towards the playoffs.
