Roy Halladay him. He’s completely done and needs to start from scratch. It’s likely already cost the jays a playoff spot. Management is disgusting. Imagine throwing every 5th game down the drain and murdering your bullpen in the process….. for months on end

Watch a real pitcher tonight. Gausman is an absolute beauty.

Be mindful that Gausman also gave up 7 runs in the first inning against the Astros this season.

Who would make his next start for him? Bowden Francis? Then who goes from the 40 man to make room? Or maybe Atkins can trade a Biggio for someone’s excess pitching that they don’t need any longer? I mean freaking Panik returned something in a trade, Biggio probably can too.

Hatch, Thompson, Thornton could all be removed from the 40 man with little worry. Though perhaps they might also shorten the bench and bring up an extra reliever (could be Hatch) to provide multiple middle innings until they have Francis fully stretched out or find another solution.

Also this whole lack of pitching depth is interesting because it seems like only Buffalo is hurting. Even guys that succeed at NH go on to struggle in Buffalo. Something's gone awry at that level.

I haven't read all of the posts, but has anyone suggested that Monoah be sent to the bullpen until he gets his confidence back. Also bring up Frances from Buffalo to replace Monoah in the rotation.

Take that inning away he’s likely the best pitcher in baseball.

Take monaohs inning away last night….. and he’s still the worst pitcher in baseball.

I'm just preemptively defending Gausman in case the Astros tattoo him again and you decide to go after him.
Lol there’s certain guys who have earned the respect for me not to rip on them. He’s one. He could give up 10 and I’m totally ok with it. Guys a gamer and complete winner. I’ll always take his corner and guys like him.

T.O.
There's zero chance he gets DFA'd.
What other option is there at this point? He's not showing any signs of improvement and his confidence looks shot. Maybe a short term conditioning stint in the minors will help him find his mojo again.

Right Shaner, if Gausmen doesn’t go 6 tonight you will call him a worthless trash can and utter garbage

The corresponding move was calling up Bowden Francis who is likely to replace Manoah's spot in the rotation.
I don't think Francis will be used that much (once every 5 games). Assuming full health from the other 4 starters, the team can basically run a 4-man rotation between now and the August 1st trade deadline and would only need 4 spot starts from Francis during this timespan because of the amount of off-days coming up plus the all-star break.

Manoah optioned to Florida Complex League... Wow.

It's the right call. They can work on things there in the Spring Training facilities. It's almost like a ringer on the team, I doubt he goes on road trips, only pitches at home games.

Better off there than AAA.

Yeah, I like the idea of seeing what they have in Francis over the next few weeks and deciding based on that (and based on how Manoah progresses) whether they need to make a trade instead of jumping into the trade market right now. Francis at least has a high enough ceiling that he could be more than just filler.

It is the right call, absolutley.

What is the Florida Complex League though? wiki says it's "rookie level", is that not even Single-A?

It's the old Gulf Coast League. It's below A i think. They play at the same place as the spring training camp. It's like an extended spring training ... They play a relatively low amount of games and i don't think they charge to watch the games. There's a limited amount of players with pro and minor experience who can play in it. If i remember correctly the expos sent players there at least one or two times.

So we all agree Manoah needs to come out of the rotation until he figures his shit our or? Send him to AAA until he figured it out. I don’t care if that takes until next year or longer. This doesn’t work and he’s not going to figure it out up here. If we are serious about winning he can’t be starting. If we have to do bullpen days so be it. But destroying his confidence and watching him get worse aren’t the fix

Booing Bass for having an opposing viewpoint is ridiculous. Boo Manoah for sucking
Absolutely :thumbu:

Noted trashbag player Daulton Varsho with another garbage HR.

Bass brought it on himself for broadcasting his trash views on multiple occasions (he could've chosen not to go to social media to score clout points with them and nobody would've cared) and then doubling down on the most recent incident with that lame insincere, Ryan-Leaf-level apology. If he has the right to an opposing viewpoint then fans also have the right to drag him for it with a chorus of boos. The pendulum swings both ways.
You broadcast a fair bit of trash views yourself bud.

Why is he upset? He clearly has had huge issues. They let him try to figure it out for 2 months!

Take it in stride young man, put your inflated ego aside, humble yourself and try to fix your game.

Some really good discussion about Manoah on Blair & Barker... some people rag at this show, but I absolutely love it. One of the best remaining shows on the Fan590/Sportsnet.

And other people are allowed to feel differently than him and express themselves accordingly. Again, the pendulum swings both ways. I have no idea when the concept of freedom of speech morphed into "people should be allowed to say what ever they want in whatever forum they want without consequence or blowback" but that isn't now nor ever was what it's about. As long as he's not being arrested for voicing his opinion or views (provided said opinions or views don't break the laws in other ways, such as the utterance of threats, instances of hate speech, or incrimination for the commission of other crimes) his freedom is being respected. And the same freedom that allows him to do that is what also allows people opposed to his comments to voice displeasure or respond negatively to it.

It's endlessly astonishing and hilarious and frustrating how literally like 90% of people don't seem to understand the difference between 'freedom of speech' and 'freedom from consequences'.

'Freedom of speech' means that you can say what you want to say without fear of being thrown in jail by the government. It doesn't mean that you can spout dumbass views that out you as a total asshole or go against the values of your employer and not face consequences for those views.

Monoah took last year for granted and didn’t put any effort into the offseason. It’s cost him his job

Nothing is given and everything is earned
